So I can't remember what I was telling you guys last. ThinkI was writing about the Abel Tasman adventure when my internet time limit was up. Let me give this a try....ok, so Ciara, the Aucklander arrived to the eating place we were at, after our 20 min hike...to drink a beer, but i thought how can she drink one so early in the morning (10am) but i had to understand that this was going to be her last chance to enjoy one since her she still had 6 days of mopre hiking thru the abel tasman (she had planned on doing the route twice, back and forth, crazy idea i thought, bc she was lugging around her 40lb back pack with her since she had to carrry all her necessities). WEll, an hour later we ... read more

hi everyone! dropping you a quick line from auckland airport where i am playing the much hated waiting game...the plane to la is still in melbourne cos of engineering difficulties (ie, plane is broken...not good). i was meant to leave 2 hours ago, but estimated departure is now 3am. oh what fun. auckland was heaps of fun!! well apart from the first night, when i got ripped off by the shuttle bus company, arrived at my hostel to find they'd stuffed up my booking and were full, then forgot to take note of name/address of new b&b accommodation that they kindly gave me for no extra charge, so was a bit stressed of being lost in auckland on my first night! walking through the city was fairly unpleasant too at night, i really didn't feel safe, ... read more

Happy new year everyone! We've just arrived in Brisbane after detouring to Surfers Paradise where we rang in the new year. We stayed in a lovely campsite just outside the town which was a great spot, very commercial and touristy quite like your Majorca's of the world but it had real character and most importantly a fantastic beach. One of the nicest things we did there was go to the beach cinema. This was a great publicity stunt or community sponsorship programme as us PRs would call it, by Optus one of the two leading Aussie telephone companies. In a move to create brand awarness and improve their image they erected a huge cincema screen on the beach right in the centre of town and played a different family film every night for a week in ... read more

Happy New Years Everyone!! I hope you all had a safe and happy night. I had a great time here in Sydney. A couple of friends and I went to watch the 9pm fireworks near the water front....but not at the Opera house....because some people were camping out the night before to get a good spot...crazy Aussies. haha...they are almost as crazy as Canadians. haha But I got to see the fireworks...they were awesome. Then went to work. At 11:45 we all left work...and ran down the street...with Champane...screaming...and yelling...to see the fireworks at 12am....it was awesome...I missed the first bit...but saw the ending through trees. It was OUTSTANDING!!! even through the trees. Then we walked slowly back to work...and then after work the next morning...some of my friends and I went to Bondi Beach...for a ... read more

Hi all, Happy new year to all friends and family and anyone else that reads this blog. We've been on the road a bit since the last post so there's a bit to catch up on and I won't be able to put it all on just yet. I will however just add brief posts to prompt me when I get around to it. As for now, we are currently in Queenstown "The Adrenalin Capital of the World" allegedly and it's a fairly nice touristy looking town nestled in the valley and is currently swarming with people still on their holidays. Tomorrow morning we will be subjecting ourselves to the ShotOver Jet, a high speed white knuckle jet boat ride through the gorge's and shotover river canyons just outside Queenstown. Should be fun. Will definitely wake ... read more

G'day folks! First of all, we hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and that 2007 brings you everything you wish for! So, what have we been up to since our arrival Down Under on 12 November? In the past 7 weeks we have gone seriously walkabout! As we had both visited the East coast in years gone by, our focus during this trip was the delights of Western Australia. Our first week was spent discovering the wonderful city of Perth including some of its idylic suburbs such as Cottesloe Beach. Just 15 minutes by train from the city centre, this has to be one of the best places to live in the world. Picturesque, quiet, with good restaurants, chilled bars, a fantastic beach and a great golf course. What more could you ask for? ... read more

WEll, haven't written in a while bc I was out Kayaking the abel Tasman Trek. Our group decided to do a 3 day tour through a company called MSK....this is where we were to do a two day kayak tour and a one day Hiking through the park. Arriving to the MSK headquarters, we are soon faced with a problem...the office was telling us that we had to rent our own camping equipment (tents/cooking stove/utensils, sleeping matts, ect.) BUT the lady we had booked everything, 2 days earlier had told us that EVERYTHING WAS INCLUDED, we had asked her a million times if ALL (camping gear) was included in the pacakge.....well, it wasn't but somehow we managed to get it on "loan", which was good bc we had already payed alot of $$ for the whole ... read more

Saturday 30th December 2006 to Monday 1st January 2007. Having said goodbye to Lynn and Steve I spent my last sunny afternoon in Melbourne seeing a few more of the landmarks that had thus far evaded me and made my way to Southern Cross (bus station this time) for the final time. I was sad to be leaving but even sadder at the thought of sitting on a bus for twelve hours and it was probably this reason alone that made me close to boiling point whilst queuing to check in. Patience I'm afraid is not my greatest virtue and it's definitely been something I've been working on for the last few weeks but seeing people queue jumping too far away to do or say anything about it with a large, heavy bag on my back ... read more
