Da an diesem Wochenende so eine Art goldener Herbst aufkam, mußte was geschehen.

I had an amazing jammed packed three weeks with Kathryn, travelling from Cairns to Sydney. We had a wicked time, getting up to lots of mischief! It was so lovely to be able to talk to someone who actually knew me. Believe me, by that time I was all over the same ‘where are you from’ conversations! On a sunny January 25th, we crossed the Cook Strait that separates the two islands of New Zealand. Less than two weeks before the strait had 3 meter swells but on the day of our crossing was peaceful and calm. After a short picnic in downtown Wellington, we spent the afternoon and early evening in the Te Papa museum. The museum is home to an extensive collection of Maori art and artifacts, including a full scale meeting hall that museum patrons can enter in stocking feet, a war canoe and a scale model of a boat design believed to be used by the Maori tribes to cross from Tahiti to New Zealand. There are also exhibits on the natural forces shaping New Zealand, from earthquakes and volcanoes to introduced species. All of the mammals in New ... read more

Hi, sorry for the delay in updating everyone but we have been much too busy doing things and enjoying ourselves to sit round computers and updating! We arrived in Auckland as planned on 11th January (this was after a slight delay in leaving Sydney as a German couple had got themselves lost in the airport and we had a half hour wait for for them to be found. Stopped our first night at the Copthorne Hotel, Auckland where we took in the sites. We got a ferry over to Devonport which is a lovely town the otherside of the harbour, where I had a lovely fish meal. After walking around abit we then got the ferry back into Auckland and headed up to Sky Tower. From the front, Sky Tower looked unusual but not particularly impressive ... read more
