Hey guys, Hope everyone had a great xmas! So I think i am up to leaving Bangkok heading to Australia. We got to Brissy and stayed with our mates Amz and Mat (I used to work with amz at Aon years ago) for a week and the first thing they feed us was a BBQ it was amazing!, no more pad thai's!. It was fun until we found out they were doing this shake diet thing, so they never ate meals with us, totally the wrong time of year to be starting that crazy nonsense. Mats Uncle suddenly died on a tractor accident so we looked after the cat while they flew back to NZ. The 2nd week we were there we stayed with my mate Vanessa (paremata girl) and got to catch up with mouse ... read more

Hi all, How can it feel like Christmas, tomorrow "Christmas Day" is supposed to be 30 degree's C, so I thought I would just rub it in, though our thoughts drift back to the UK where its cold, dark, windswept. Forget that, as Morecambee and Wise said, (Bring me Sunshine) We are house sitting in Perth at the moment and will be here until 6 January, when we go to our 80 day house sit. Now the lady who's house sit we are doing, has said that if we would like visitors from the UK or any where for that matter then, that would be fine. So now is the time to step up to the plate and put your money where your mouth is, get yourself a flight to Australia and come and stay with ... read more

From Albany we headed back north towards Perth stopping at Wave Rock! Quite an unusual rock formation and worth seeing. The lovely summer weather is back with a vengeance so the jeans and polar fleeces have been stashed away thank goodness! We camped in the small town of Kulin where we were impressed with the fantastic sports stadium and hydro slide complex for a place of its size. On speaking to a local it would seem that a very generous childless couple left the town $1,500,000 and the council has wisely spent only the interest on structures that benefit the whole community. The locals are immensely proud and who wouldn’t be. Kulin also is trying very hard to put itself on the map with strong advertising to entice tourist to visit their town to observe “The ... read more

Yep it's because suddenly the distances have narrowed down and the towns are full of food and water so we are buying up BIIG. Tim Tams, fresh bread, fresh vegies and fruit. Joghurt, milk, amazing goodies! Reached Geraldon via Kalbarri and a few bush camping spots. Windsurfers are out in full force which made me pretty titchi to say the least 'cause where is my board ???? Highlights? Probably a night spent under the stars, so quiet, just us and a few falling stars (meteorites) which made me wish....... Another highlight sunset at Kalbarri Gorge. The flies just about retired and it got a bit cooler. Biggest highlight... We took Kalimera van into Cape Peron NP. Sand track out to the tip. Let the tyres down and camped near the beaches with red red rock behind. ... read more

The Story So Far.... So it's been a long time since I've put anything up on here.... over 5 years to be precise. This is not an indication of a lack of travel, nor is it an indication of an absence from the site, merely a lot of paying off the last big trip and saving for the next. During this time I've managed a number of smaller trips to neighboring countries such as Indonesia and Singapore but in essence these have been single purpose visits, whether for a Formula 1 GP or a boys week away. It's also been noted that with my last trip, the blogs stopped coming.... the main reason?? As the trip is called "RTW til the money runs out" I'm sure you can imagine. After spending 4 days in transit, sleeping ... read more

Lying to the north of Perth, Hilary's Boat Harbour comprises a marina and recreational complex with shops, cafes and a world-class Aqua (Western Australian Aquarium). The harbour is full of expensive yachts, speedboats and ocean-going gin-palaces. The shops are stocked with attractive, glittery goods and clothes and the cafes serve excellent food. The main focus for our visit was the aquarium. At nearly $30 per person, it seemed a tad pricy but it was soon clear that this was value for money. The quality of presentation, the diversity of species and beauty of every single tank made this visit very special. Photography without flash was encouraged but unfortunately the results were not good. On the way back to Attadale we stopped at Garden City food circus and bought a salad lunch which was excellent. In the ... read more

All good things must come to an end and it was with some sorrow that we packed up camp on early Saturday. The guys helped us take the camper down and we were ready for the road. I never like good-byes. Having shared such an intense experience with these guys, this was one where my expressions of gratitude seemed totally inadequate. They had really gone out of their way to make our time in the outback special and leaving was not without some stifled emotion. A week before we were strangers, I felt that we were leaving as friends. After travelling bumpy bush trails for the last few days, the dirt highway seemed as wide as a runway and we were able to sit on a steady 60km. When we eventually pulled onto the asphalt route ... read more
