In this article, we would like to explain why we have not found work in Australia on a Working Holiday Visa. After all Australia is perceived as the new Eldorado for a lot of backpackers. Many odd jobs are available for travelers: fruit picking, hospitality and pretty much everything that is related to tourism. Wages in Oz have a reputation for being better than in Europe, and many backpackers come back from their travel with more money than when they’ve started. Wow! What a dream vacation! In this post, we will tell you about our experience and our opinion regarding work in Australia. What were our goals when we arrived in Australia? Our project was to arrive in Sydney, to buy a van and to travel freely in the country. Work from time to time in ... read more

For a change we are not having a weekend out of town, this weekend is about catching up with friends, having some us time and getting out in the dirt which is what we are good at. I went looking for a bike on Saturday, Andy and I have been talking about getting bikes again, so I thought I would do some homework and there is a good bike shop fairly close by, but with lots of bikes on display it is hard to figure out what to get, so a chat with the guy in the shop soon has that narrowed down for me. Saturday night we had a great dinner with our friends Glenn and Natalie and probably a slightly later night than anticipated, as we had an early start on Sunday morning planned. ... read more

Hey guys, When I started writing this blog I wasn't really sure how regularly I was going to be posting because I realise I may not always have access to the Internet and I plan to be busy travelling, but as a promise I want to commit to posting at least once a week if not a couple times a week. So on the cards of misadventures this week I have been possessed by the devil in the form of the flu... It is flu season so it was expected I would get sick at some point in time and to be honest part of me is glad I got it now before I leave for Europe, that way I can be miserable at home in my own bed. Unfortunately misfortune usually comes in multiples and ... read more

So there are 2 weeks to go until I fly off half way around the world. It's safe to say that part of me is terrified but the other part, the bigger part is so bloody excited it's hard to contain! As I haven't actually started the travelling part of my travel blogging I thought I would give you a rundown of some pre-trip mishaps, mainly in the costly form of failing to obtain my UK working visa. A Tier 5 Youth Mobility visa is for anyone aged between 18 and 35, which allows a person to travel and work in the UK for 2 years, it costs about $530 for the visa and all you really need is a passport and a bank statement to show you have 1800 pounds in the bank (the equivalent ... read more

I've decided it would be a good idea to keep some sort or record of my adventures and a blog is really the only way to go about it, in this day and age, so here goes... The Pre-trip to put it simply has been a rather long and interesting process, I decided that about 2 years ago I wanted to go to Europe for a holiday, in my head I was really only planning on going for a month or two, but after a few bumps in the employment road (meaning my employer sucked and wouldn't let me take the time off) I decided to extend my trip from 1 or 2 months to 1 or 2 years and decided when it came closer to the time I would just quit my job and travel ... read more

So I guess first things first, I should cover the who (in case anyone actually ends up reading this). I am Sorcha, a 19 year old backpacker from England. I've been going on backpacking adventures since I was 17 and I started that by going to South Africa and working on a game reserve in 2013. From that moment my travel bug had well and truly festered and there has been no turning back. I had to battle with my college responsibilities which confined me to only being able to travel in holidays, therefore I booked Interrailing for summer 2014 and it was insane. For anyone who does not know, Interrailing is when you travel Europe by train, pretty simple, pretty awesome. Now the Who is covered I can move on to the where - as ... read more

Our taxi arrives on time to take us to kulua Lumpur airport, cases loaded and off we go, but the driver seems to have a problem in that he can't sit still! He keeps bouncing! I can't take my eyes off of him as I try to work out the problem, does he need the loo, has he got a condition, has he got a bug up his bum, ( or something else for that matter) there's no bag filling up anywhere! But this bloke cannot keep still, the car is all over the place, I look over to Keith for some reassurance but hes got his eyes closed as if nothing is going on ( best to stay quite here!) . 45 minutes later we arrive at the airport all in one piece, thankfully I ... read more
