Calling on the Cops 30/12/2016 Jim one of our UK visitors is a PCSU which is basically a community support officer, in the West Midlands, I think Briefly Hill rings a bell with me and Jim if you do read this blog I do hope it is accurate. Basically a PCSO is a uniformed civilian member of police support staff in England and Wales. They are non-warranted but are provided with a variety of police powers and the power of a Constable in various instances, by the forty-three territorial police forces in England and Wales or the British Transport Police which is the only special police force to employ PCSOs.(Thanks Wikipedia) So Jim worked with a lady PCSO in the UK who came to live in Australia and strangely enough ended up living in Mundurah Jim& ... read more

For whom the bell tolls? I love the nights when they are balmy and you can hear the crickets cricketing in the bush, but last night I gave in to the air conditioning. I don’t usually like air conditioning on overnight if I can help it, but trying to sleep in over 30 degrees heat was just not happening. We all met up in the kitchen to a breakfast of fresh fruit and toast, I think we all looked a bit exhausted from the heat, but we have touristy things to do so after breakfast, tidying up, getting washed and dressed we all piled into both cars and headed to the train station. Yes the train station today, not that we are going on a big journey we just figured it would be a bit of ... read more

There was no doubt about it, we knew that today was going to be a scorcher, already we were sleeping without a quilt (or doona), last night was a really warm night and a real indication of the day ahead of us. Andy will already have told you yesterday about their journey so far, we hope to continue that Australian adventure for our UK visitors, we have an itinerary to fulfil for our friends from England to make sure they had the best possible view of our life in Perth. We ate our breakfast, already feeling the heat, but keen to get out as today our itinerary scheduled Caversham Wildlife Park, located in Whitman Park at the entrance to the Swan Valley, which holds the largest private collection of native wildlife in Western Australia. We set ... read more

We got to the airport in plenty of time, we thought it would be a great idea if we could go in to the arrivals lounge and see our guests plane land then do the” ta da” thing when they walk through the gate, just like they do in the movies. Of course we had to go through security and have our bags searched, but as we don’t have anything to hide neither of us have a problem with it, so we submit what we have, walk through the scanners, Caroline’s handbag is also subjected to the chemical swab before going any further. With the all clear our first stop is for coffee, well it was for me as Caroline was on a mission to purchase a new pair of sunglasses as she had lost her ... read more

Just spent an overnighter at The FourPoints By Sheraton in the city. We were going to see the Hugh Jackman show "From Broadway To Oz" at the Perth Arena, so we decided to make a night of it and stay at a hotel as well. Kinda like being a tourist in your own city. The FourPoints is right across the road from the Perth Arena so it made sense to stay there. The hotel itself has had many names over the years including The Orchard Hotel and The Grand Chancelor and to be honest it wasn't on the top of my list for Perth hotels I wanted to stay in but we figured it's close so why not. We drove up (dropped off by my daughter) and were greeted straight away by a staff member who ... read more

have now been travelling for just over 8 months which has taken me from Poland to Australia so far. Having seen so much and met so many people that is why I want to carry on. Australia for me at the start of the journey was a target that once I got there, I couldn't turn back. Arriving in Perth after a 5 day journey from Darwin, I dropped the relocation camper van, that I have driven the majority of the way, off at the depot and really had to clean the vehicle with Tom my co pilot. During the cleaning, my iPhone fell out of my pocket landing on the screen, which rendered my mobile broken. There didn’t seem to be anything wrong with the phone, no cracks or anything but the screen was now ... read more

Today we had a working Bee at the Black Cockatoo Society at Kaarakin, as 28 clubs who are in the Western Australian 4 wheel drive association use their facilities free of charge the only reparation we have to do is a couple of working bee’s throughout the year, so everyone is happy. The weather is ramping up Friday was a pretty warm 33 degree’s and Saturday was forecast to be a whopping 38 degree’s, not bad for Spring. We were late to bed last night, as you have read in our last blog with Floretta’s 60th Birthday, we fell into bed at 11.45 absolutely knackered and we had promised ourselves we would be up at 6.00am to go and have a run, in the cool of the morning. When we were driving home last night the ... read more

i t was Friday the 13th November and it had been a busy week and this evening we had been invited to go to one of our friends 60th Birthday. Kim and Floretta Parker are friends from our 4 wheel drive club and they live up in the Perth Hills, you may remember a blog back in December 2013 well on the 16/12/2013 to be exact where someone we know had a coach, that they had converted and had toured around Australia in for 8 years, well this is them, the blog title was called Montecarlo on Bus(T) When you look at Floretta there is no way you would have her down for 60 years old, may be very late forties or early 50’s but no way 60. Well it’s a fact today the Thirteenth of ... read more

Too Rude 9-10 November 2015 This weekend was a busy one for us, it was the Perth 4wheel drive and outdoor adventure show and we were to be part of it and not just as spectators walking around the show. Saturday was also a big day for us emotionally as like our recent blog, This is who we are) 7 years today, was the celebration of us leaving the UK and strangely enough is also the day 38 years ago the Toyota Landcruiser Club of Western Australia was set up and as we will be 40 years old in 2017 I have put myself forwards to coordinate our huge celebrations for our members. We left the cabin at about 6.45am, yes I did say 6,45 am as we had to get to McCallam Park were the ... read more
