Potom prisla tema "cestovanie", ktora vyustila do spisania zoznamu co vsetko by som mohol vidiet a nemal si nechat ujst. ... read more

Picked our hire car up at 10am and headed to Torquay. Our first stop on the Great Ocean Road. Chris got to do his first Hook turn in Melbourne as we were leaving - due to the trams in Melbourne, if you want to turn right, you have to pull over to the left, wait for all the cars to go by, the lights to change to red, then pull out to the right! Very weird feeling! Torquay is about 1hr30 from Melbourne. The coastal road takes about 5hr30 from Melbourne to Warrnambool. We stayed at the Foreshore Caravan Park and had to pay a whooping $50 for one night in our tent! But everywhere was full, we ad no choice! We set up camp and headed into the town to get food supplies for the ... read more

15th dec to 2nd jan HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Apologies to those of you who received a drunken phonecall at midnight!! Anyway, gotta go back a bit... been a mad few weeks... Had a great time on Tiss' hen do. We had an english garden party with cakes, pimms etc - nothing like anything I've had in England though!! Was lovely. Went out into town after and got appropriately drunk. On the Monday we relocated to our house in Torquay. I was in a house of 8 and next to us was a house of 6, and we had a further house of 7 down the road. Mix of brits, kiwis and aussies. In a word - carnage. Our house came with a huge garden, bbq, flat screen and pool table!! And we were a 5 minute ... read more

Getting there After a half-hearted attempt to find work in the Newcastle area proved fruitless, we decided to spend our time on more adventurous ventures so we booked a campervan with the intention of taking 15 days to drive from Sydney to Adelaide and back again. The plan was to take in the Great Ocean Road in one direction and return via the inland road. We had booked as cheap a camper as we could so good taste went out of the window. We picked up our horrible green and purple vehicle and struggled in the Friday afternoon traffic getting out of Sydney. We had planned on doing the hard miles as quickly as possible, but at 17:00 we had covered barely 210km so decided to call it a night. Along the way our van had ... read more

Monday was a blustery day with strong winds, rain, hail, and sunshine. We headed out on the Great Ocean Road to Loch Ard Gorge where a famous shipwreck occurred in the 1800s on the last night of a long voyage from England. All but two died. Rather bad end to a long journey. From there we headed to the Twelve Apostles, which is a famous set of limestone towers just off the beach. They are really down to about six or seven apostles now due to erosion, but no one here seems to be interested in renaming the area. We then headed into the mountains to the Otway Fly Treetop Walk, which is an area in the forest where they have installed a system of elevated walkways and towers. The wind was really blowing hard, but ... read more

Torquay. Well, it isn't exactly a prime holiday destination anymore. Stuck on the arse end of the UK, filled with coach tours, blue rinse and decidedly dodgy food we have always avioded it like the plauge. Thankfully when we stepped off the bus, Torquay was almost 12,000 km away and there wasn't a cream tea in sight (Much to nic's disgust). This Torquay is the home of surfing on Victoria's aptly named 'surf coast'. Filled with empty surf shops, closed cafes and a decidedly eerie backpackers (so quiet we ended up checking people in). It is unfortunately off season for surfing as the water is a little bit chilly and the Aussies are clearly wooses. We on the other hand lapped it up and made a be line for the water. After all the castle building ... read more

Hi all. Its been another fun filled week since the last blog update. The internet is pretty scarse where we have been, so now that we heading back north to the more tourist towns im sure it'l be accessible. Well to start off, we were in torquay after the grand prix on sunday. Its down south in victoria, about an hour from melbourne and right on the coast. Its a huge surfing town, and is home to the Bells Beach Rip Curl Pro surf comp every easter, so we arrived with great timing. There is a huge "surf plaza" there to, which has shopping outlets for Quiksilver, billabong, rip curl, roxy etc, so me and soph where loving it. Iv really wanted to get a surf board since we arrived in Oz, and in the rip ... read more
