Day 14 - Typically the day we are leaving is the best weather-wise by far! Still, we’ve had a great time and it’s always lovely and relaxing at the beach house. Myself (Sarah), Anna and Daph went for the final morning walk on the peninsula and this morning we even snuck a closer look at some of the properties available! Anna has identified several ‘favourite’ houses down here, sadly people seem to live in them so we can’t get a really good look but we do have a good clamber around one which isn’t occupied! It’s pretty big and is on multi levels with a balcony complete with sea view and a fairly large price tag we think! Onward we go with the walk, swinging our arms and doing the sort of exercise you should do ... read more

Glad we've got a car!
Happy Mothers Day Anna.

Day 13 dawned bright over the Mornington Peninsula. We needed to get up and do stuff today so came up with the idea of going for a bit of a horse ride! When we arrived at the Ace Hi ranch we got told that Amy was just a bit too young for the Bush n Beach horse ride, she needed to be 7 or older and she’s 6, so instead the girls had a pony ride! Both the girls really enjoyed their trip aboard “Sparky” the very docile pony! His handler Mel was very encouraging with Charlotte as she’s not quite as confident as Amy. There’s a lot of ‘stuff’ at the ranch including accommodation themed wild west cabins with great names - Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday, Calamity Jane etc and a whole activity trail to ... read more

After our farewell party on March the 12th, I bought (for work) a fibre optic bore scope. Handy for looking in hard to get to places in engine bays etc. Curiosoty lead my to take a spark plug out of the Rapier and have a look inside. Well as the photo shows I had a major problem. With 2 weeks to go before the car goes into the container, I was staring a major engine rebuild in the grille. My Rapier has Riley 1500cc post war conrods so the pistons are a one off. The chances of getting new pistons made in such a short time was next to impossable. After many phone calls and whils't confering with my mate Bru. it was suggested that I should consider using his engine and gearbox as his Rapier ... read more

My intention for this gathering was to invite as many Lagonda people as I could. Given the only available day was the 8th of March, the middle of our Labour day long weekend we didn't do to bad. We had 1 1930 3 litre Lagonda, 1 1928 2 litre Lagonda an 1100cc supercharged Alta a 1937 2 litre Aston Martin and 3 Lagonda Rapiers. A perfect Melbourne Day ... read more

3 weeks down, less than one to go! I cannot believe how time has flown. I'm really looking forward to seeing Sydney, but I am truly going to miss Melbourne. This is not my last time here, I can say that with certainty. So, week 3 was very nice, and I definitely started to settle into a routine. Work was light (surprise, surprise) but nice. I met a great Orthopaedic Surgery resident, Tanya, and she let me scrub a case with her. The Ortho Residents here train for 5 years after their 2 intern years, and they move to a new hospital every 6 MONTHS! And these hospitals can be anywhere in Victoria, which is a very, very large area. Tanya says they learn to be quite mobile. Otherwise, just spent a lot of time in ... read more

Well that's the hard work over and done with! My last work was indeed a hard slog, not so much the work... although the week was varied, including planting, mulching and watering at Cape Schank, near the lighthouse on Monday Afternoon. Tuesday was spent pulling out huge quantities of ivy from a wonderful national reserve park in Rosebud, and we went to Arthurs seat at Lunchtime giving fabulous views of the sea and the town below us, which was beautiful. I confess I took a sicky on Wednesday, as was feeling very run down and worn out on Wednesday, but then got myself together again for two wonderful days weeding and weeding and weeding, oh and more weeding on a wet and windy Thursday and a gloriously sunny Friday! Whilst in the mornington Peninsular we stayed ... read more

Today we pack our bags for one final time for our flight from LA International Airport to 'Home'. The trip has been everything we were hoping for , and will/has supplied us with a lifetime of memories. Though we are all looking forward to coming home, there is a certain amount of apprehension amongst the family. The warmth and generosity of people we have met along the way has been very much appreciated. So after 27 weeks, 18 flights, 15 countries and a wealth of adventure we have touched down. Arriving home it has been good to catch up with family and friends. We seem to have slipped back into the mainstream of life with a renewed appreciation of where we live and the fantastic adventure we have just had as a family. If you ever ... read more

Today is our free day in Melbourne. We could have signed up for some of the optional stuff, but I really wanted a day of not doing much. We slept in a bit this morning then headed out to Victoria Market again. We'd been thinking of taking the free tram, but looking at the map of the city we had, we realized it was quite walkable. Got there a just past 10 am and after walking around together for a bit, I left Haviva to her shopping and headed back here. Once I'm done here, I've got to go get some more cash, then I plan on resting this afternoon before heading to Wicked. During our city tour yesterday I noticed that Rocky Horror was playing here. I almost wish I'd known that before booking the ... read more

A change of plan, originally we were going to head further north and to the mighty Murray River to find more Australian country culture and see the Mississippi of Oceania. The weather of Ballarat made us change our minds and we headed back to the coast to see if we could find some golden sands. The sun shone brightly as we headed through Melbourne, Alice navigating we were bound to find somewhere. Soon though good judgement and possibly a dash of luck we found ourselves heading down the Mornington Peninsular. The playground of Melbonians, golden sandy beaches reaching around Philip Bay and Mediterranean feel towns and vine yards. Our first night was in Mornington Town itself, with a really great town centre and a fantastic view off the beach front, with a tiny outline of Melbourne ... read more
