Well, here we are - just over a week in and already feels like we've been here ages. We arrived on Monday 22nd October and took a taxi to our friends warehouse apartment in Brunswick, we got there about 17:30. The apartment is awesome, it is in a huge old warehouse that was split into apartments about ten years ago. David & Stephanie bought this one earlier this year and gutted it, remodelling it into an open plan 'New York' style apartment. Hardwood floors, granite worktops and high ceilings. Very nice. We spent Monday evening settling in and catching up. Tuesday we hit the ground running. We headed into the city to activate our bank accounts that we had opened from the UK, they ordered our bank cards and cheque books. We arranged a hire car ... read more

Neil was busy with helping John at work, Neil was driving the bobcat and digger around a landscape garden project, he couldn't do much damage! as it was just mounds of earth everywhere. I went to Donna's ( Johns daughters) for the day Neil was coming later. Donna and I got a tram to Brunswick street, its a nice long street full of shops and bars(that will do me) we met up with a friend of Donna's and went for lunch, I've never had sushi so we tried out the local sushi bar, it was a bit fishy but that's what its all about so I had a couple of rolls of the fishy numbers they were ok!Next stop a bar with a lovely bottle of dry white, just nice, Donna's friend had to go so ... read more

She will have grown a lot in four months. We will do a leisurely trip up to Canberra today. We have friends and relatives to stay with for a couple of nights. Having lived up there for some years I am very fond of the place, and always look forward to visiting. ... read more

The last of our Greyhound journeys saw Myself and Dan bound for Melbourne aboard the worst bus we'd been on and at 12 hours, one of the longest journeys. Because of a bad night's sleep the previous day, I had severe neckache, which meant I didn't have much sleep on the journey. OUr decisioin to bypass Canberra proved to be a wise choice as we drove through the centre of the ghost town. I thought that as it is the Capital, it was worth at least one night there, but after having been advised against it I'm glad we didn't bother. Arriving in Melbourne at 8am having had no sleep, the first priority was to find a bed. A minute after getting our bags on our backs, we were confronted by an Irish lad with a ... read more

Currently looking for alternative accommodation as our house mates a loon...long story that i will tell once we are safely out of there! Hello one and all, im still alive and breathing, im also still in good old Melbourne - i will leave one day i promise. Since my last blog over a month ago i have to be honest in that not too much has happened that anyone in the world would consider exciting except for 3 things. 1) Im now working for a company called Harry The Hirer doing Marquee work along with every other backpacker in Melbourne i think, its ok work and you get to see areas you'd never normally see at events like the G.P and things, the money is pretty turd to be honest ($16 Ph before tax) and you get paid every 2 weeks which seems an eternity but it does look good to see almost a grand go into the bank... ... read more

Hello from Melbourne! I have left it far to long to unpdate my blog again so going to try and keep it short and sweet! Katie and left Brisbane on the 15th Jan, catching the train to Surfers Paradise. I must say, we were not that impressed with Surfers, it was like a tacky coast town and reminded us both of the costa del sol or some thing! am sure it is a great party town but the hostel we were in (called Cheers) had a building site next door and they started work at 7am each morning. Katie and I went on the bar crawl, getting home at 4am and then were woken up at 7am on the first morning so as you can imagine the lack of sleep didn't help our moods! However, I ... read more
