Hey guys! So yesterday morning i had an early start to head on the bus to mission beach. After a quick stop to pay fuel levys and get official ticket, we headed on up to Bambuini rocks, where we saw the Devils pool, some silly story about people dying because of a ghost thing, but kind of funny! We then made a stop at Inisfail croc farm. It was soo cool. I got to hold a crocodile and snake, plus i fed kangaroos and stroked them, a very cool experience!! However, i have to say, the guys feeding the crocs and giving the tour, are, mental!! They do not seem to care to much, makiing the crocs jump up and stuff, one of these days someone will lose a hand!! Arrived at mission beach at 1pm. ... read more

Nicky: Hello everyone, hope you are all ok? I don't know how many of you had bets on this happening but just to let you know, we are engaged!!!! Neil had planned it all along and got down on one knee on a very beautiful beach in a place called Bingil Bay. We had spent the last two days there as it was right on the beach, lined with coconut trees and for most of the time we were the only ones there. I can honestly say that I didn't see it coming!! I don't think I have stopped giggling since last night!! The rest of the week has been spent much as the last few have been slowly topping up the tan and viewing 100s of km of beautiful scenery and wildlife. We have encountered ... read more

Hi again all, I'll try to get this blog back on track now I've got a little time (it's expensive though!). I'm currently at Mission beach, which is my first stop south from Cairns, I've not been here for long but the place seems to be very chilled out, it's a very small town where people seem to just chill out - which is exactly what I need! Up in Cairns the hostel I stayed at was brilliant - I met loads of people and it's a great place to be based, after spending a few days pretty much enjoying being in one place for a length of time I went and did some more scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef - I went up to the Agincourt dive sites which are widely regarded as ... read more

Well...I seem to have done loads of things since my last entry! Noosa- This place is beautiful! Gorgeous beaches and stylish shops, restaurants-I could live here easily but it is so expensive. Rich Ozzies come here for their hols. The best day here was definitely Steve Irwin's zoo (Australia zoo off TV) I got to hand feed elephants, pet koalas and stroke kangaroos. The zoo keeper were great giving us lots of info about the animals and conservation. Unlike zoos back home the animals here they had acres and acres of room and they seemed really happy. The croc shows were great but it was weird for old Stevo not to be there-we had a round of applause for him and his kids pics were all over the zoo. Fraser- This weekend was brilliant! We had ... read more

Well the last thing on our to do list for our NQ trip was white water rafting on the world famous Tully River. After an Hour long bus ride we were there. Our river guides were John from Canada and Fabio from Peru. Unfortunately John was new to the river, so he wasn’t allowed to play around as much as some others. The rafting itself was pretty cool. The only downside was all rafts had to get through a section of rapids before continuing to the next, so with 5 rafts, it slowed the show down a little. It was a good day though as we were in a raft with and Englishmen and a couple of Irishmen. They were pretty funny and we met up with them later in the night for a few drinks. ... read more

Ok so its now Sunday so I better try and catch up on what i've done the last few days. We stayed in Cairns till Friday which was pretty good. On the Thursday night we met up with an oz guy and a argentinan guy who I spoke to earlier on in the day over a light lunch of noodles. The night consisted of us waiting till happy hour and ordering as much as we could. My feelings are that I shouldn't have to pay more for my drinks than I need to so why not wait for an hour of fun. Luckily we nabbed some free dinner tokens as well for wednesday-Friday so dinner time was soon becoming very cheap as well. The night on the whole was pretty good and we walked round the ... read more

As I had managed to have a bit of a practice around the campsite the night before I drove the next day. I was a little nervous to start with as I have not driven anything so big or old before!!!! It was really easy though and we set off back on the Bruce Highway. We had seen that there were some waterfalls along our planned route so decided to stop off and take a look. They were a little way off the highway but we figured they would be worthwhile as the area had had so much rain in the recent weeks. We followed the signs and came to a layby for a look out point. I pulled over to it and we both neally stopped breathing as we encountered the bigget cliff drop you ... read more

Felt like a bit of a hedgehog this morning foraging to collect my things and leave the Calypso in and hopefully the Cairns wet season behind me. Got a taxi with a guy called Matt into the city. Met up with two girls Kathleen and Lauren and so the Oz journey began...first stop Innisfail Crocodile farm. I held a crocodile! fed kangaroos of which I ate later (probably not that actual one but you never know it tasted pretty fresh), I had a lizard on my shoulder and watched crazy guys get insanely close to seriously aggressive crocs to feed them a bit of chicken (they dont like Steve Irwin either! shocker). On to our first stop Mission Beach staying at Scotty's beach house and planned with Lauren and Kath where we wanted to go and ... read more

Ok I dont mean to moan I know Im in a beautiful place and all, but Im already done with everything feeling damp grr! Its not pleasant and Im unsure as to why anyone lives here expecially in the wet season. Anyway I left my room this morning after a restless night spent sharing with 5 foreign girls (possibly German & Swedish but could quite easily be mistaken on both accounts), one of whom seems to be suffering a severe case of smokers cough or some such ailment resulting in insanely loud choking at ungodly hours of the morning! (ok realised Im sounding like a grump but stick with me it gets better I promise. I caught the shuttle bus into the city and had a coffee while I read through half a tree of brochures ... read more
