G'day sports fans, So I thought it was gonna be a quiet week, but how wrong could I have been. So I met Stef on Sunday evening, and we checked into our new hostel, Banana Benders. It was bra to have a good night sleep without any loud and annoying Germns. We just chilled out at night and caught up. The next morning we had a lie in and decided we'd better do some washing. What a relief it was to have a clean towel, as mines was pure bouffin after using it since I left 2 weeks before that. as I went through to the reception to get some change for the washers, Nicola comes waltzing through the door. I was shocked. The upshot of how she came to be there, a week early, was ... read more

To say that Fortitude Valley is a bit rough is kind of like saying that it rains a bit in Plymouth. However, Fortitude Valley is not without its charms . . its just a little bit difficult finding them when you initially set foot in the place. We stayed at the FV Apartments on Bismark St (I think thats what it was called) and once again luxuriated in the total R and R that it was having our own apartment again. As soon as we got to Brisbane the weather was dire, with downpours not unlike dreary ole Plymouth, so it was off to the shops we trooped. Fortitude Valley has quite a nice selection of little vintage shops. It is also Brisbane's party central, with loads of bars and clubs, which was all reminiscent of ... read more

Saturday 28th March Woke up this morning on my last day in Fremantle and had breakfast with friends before heading to the airport to catch my flight to Brisbane to meet Pippa! My flight was delayed and poor Pippa must have thought i'd forgotten about her as she has to wait for nearly an hour before i came to rescue her from International arrivals! It was so so good to see a familiar and friendly face and we were very excited at the thought of the next 3 weeks adventures. After a long hug, we caught a taxi to our hostel in the Fortitude Valley in the centre of Brisbane. Trying not to wake up our 8 room mates it wasn't long before our heads hit the pillow after a long day of travelling. Sunday 29th ... read more

After a four hour journey from Harvey Bay we found ourselves in Brisbane. The city was buzzing - it was full of people doing their Christmas shopping, there were brass bands playing (although we couldn't spot Harold Bishop and his tuba) and there were choirs singing Christmas carols. We were loving it and it was the first time it had felt like Christmas time! With only a few days to spend in Brisbane we had a pretty busy schedule of things to do and places to go! First stop, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. We hopped on the local bus which took us straight to the door and before we even got into the entrance gate we came face to face with an Eastern Water-dragon. Not realising at the time that they weren't actually that rare (considering ... read more

Had a fantastic day at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary- loved feeding the Kangaroos- and avoiding the scary Emus. Had my photo taken with Ryan the koala- how cute! Oct 16th Picked up hire car and drove north to Noosa- visited the Glass House Mountains on the way. Nice apartment - very near beach. Oct 17th Walked along the coast- looked for Koalas but they were all hiding! Went to the beach and christened our very cheap boogie board!Good surf! Oct 18th Left Noosa and drove to Mt Tibrogargan went up it as far as we could then realised the signs that said 'experienced climbers only' meant exactly that!! Had a bit of trouble getting somewhere to stay in the evening- went inland and ended up somewhere called Canungra-stayed ina B and B- run by Ray who ... read more

It's raining So much rain today and yesterday with the associated traffic hassels. I'm glad my family chose to hire a Govans campervan with plenty of room. No visiting the theme parks on the gold coast today but the motorhome has been equipped by Govans with a LCD TV and DVD player so down to the video rental shop to hire some movies and microwave some popcorn. ... read more

Yo yo yo I am giving u a wee blog just before we head off to the rugby - wooooooooooo hooooooooooo for the rugby!!! So we have come to the conclusion that there is no more sun for us now till the US of A -boo.. and we are also extremely sad to be leaving Oz in a few days.. but less of that and more about our shennanigans. We went to Australia Zoo early on the free bus and got there for its opening. It was a bit rainy but soon cleared. Headed up first to the elephants and the tigers. Then we went on the 'koala walk' and got to pat a koala's arse, very soft indeed. Went then into the red kangaroos park where you can stroke, play, lay with them, they are ... read more

NOTE: PUBLISHED NEW PHOTOS!!! We've been in Australia for just over 2 weeks now, and its flown by. After close to 2 months in Asia, getting here was a welcome relief. It's so easy to get caught up in the ozzie mentality, the laid-back lifestyle and the all round good vibe. We're working from the top down- Cairns to Melbourne. We flew to Cairns from Singapore and met Jess (from China tour and who went to Luffa), but the weather wasn't too great in the 3 days we were there. Cairns is a purpose built tourist town, from what we could see, its population was pretty much about 80% British. There are plenty of activities out of Cairns, especially as it is so close to the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree rainforest, but we decided ... read more

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=26632&l=cdfee&id=503645207 Today I slept in as long as I could. After 11 hours of sleeping I was feeling a little caught up on sleep. Not completly there but getting there. The rain continued all day today. In the two days before today Brisbane had received more rain then it generally did in a whole month. about 200 km up the coast where we will be in about two weeks there was a fair amount of flooding. Back to today, the rain continued to fall most of the day until around 5 O'Clock. During the day I worked on planning the trip and got Mike focused for as long as I could on it. We got a fair amount done on the trip actually. I was quite surprised. After working for a fair amount of the day ... read more

We had to head off in the morning as Dunc had managed to get some Stereophonics concert tickets. They were playing in Brisbane and we had managed to secure four. The Phonics are favourites of ours…… and Lisa came along too. She is into that “Boom, Boom” rubbish, and mixed with a dodgy educational past means that she can tell a story or two. The concert didn’t start well, not only were the doors opened one and a half hours late but during the wait ‘Wheaters’ managed to pull a ‘whitey’. The explanation was that she had consumed a dodgy Veggo burger, but maybe she had just been standing up for too long (You know how much she likes the sofa). The result was that Lisa managed to spew her ring (sometimes through her fingers) all ... read more
