After all the dawdling, and people gawking (u will never make it there) followed by a "go soon people" send off at "The Ranch" in Sydney, me and dinesh finally left on our first and longest road trip till date. Sydney to Alice Springs, ya right, to a town called Alice. We took off in a rental station wagon a ford falcon, and since we rented it out from a german company, everything was in order. Only missing was a satellite phone, heard it was essential, but well cant have everything... We actually bought a first aid kit, which come to think of it is still sealed. May be we can still return it to Woolworths. As usual Josephites that we were, everything happens at OST, our standard time, and we left an hour and half ... read more

Thursday, 11 November 2004 I've been in Griffith since tuesday afternoon when I arrived in the afternoon following a four and half hour drive. The weather on that day was hot enough to drive with the air-conditioner on. I had been to this centre last year but for the life of me, can't remember doing the job. Forty children were photographed yesterday and I worked so hard in the hot sun I became dizzy. The staff have been extremely helpful and this enabled me to do the job well. I'm back at the usual Budget Motel on the eastern end of town. Compared to yesterdays weather which was around twenty six degrees, today has been wet and windy. This will probably be the last job for the company this year.... read more

Hiya everyone, Tue 9th Nov Up at 4.15am to make our way to Cairns airport to fly back to Sydney. We manage to make it to the airport with plenty of time to spare (you only need to be there an hour before) i very nearly left my swiss army knife in my handluggage, how stupid am I. We didn't have to wait long for the plane and we were soon boarded and on our way. I think the flight took about 2hrs 30min im not too sure because the time is different in Sydney to Cairns and i got confused in my tired state. We get off the plane and get our bags, which all happens very quickly and then head to the train to get to Sydney Central. I texted my friend James who ... read more

Mon 25th Oct Up early to spend a full day in Newcastle. It is only 9am and the sun is blazing and it is already really hot - will definatly need the lotion today (slight mix up with the lotion mom cus for some reason i have factor 8???). We take a stroll into the town centre, it is quiet and a sweet little place. We find the local beach which is an absolute picture. We set up camp on the beach for a while, the sand is so white i have never seen anything like it. Had a little paddle but had to be careful as there was jellyfish about. Resorted to sunbathing but forgot to put my bikini bottoms on, so thought sod it and sunbathed in my pants (cheeky as it was a ... read more

Sat 23rd Oct Hey my litle sweet peas me again. After the previous nights adventure we had a bit of a late start at 1pm and that was only because the cleaner woke us up. Feeling a bit iffy and a tad tired so decided to take Rosy for a walk through Hyde Park and the Botanical Gardens to show her the fruit bats (she is a bit mad about them). Thought the fesh air would do me good and it did until i saw a beautiful wedding being performed in the park which made me feel like an old spintster, why does'nt anyone want to marry me??? i want to get married there (any offers???). We had a walk around the Opera house and the harbour and watched a street performer who was very funny ... read more

19th October 04 Well Guys, G'day. I finally arrived in Aussie land into Sydney airport at 8.30am after an 8 hour flight. The flight went amazingly quick because me and Alex (the lad i sat next to on the plane) were a bit bored and could'nt sleep so we decided to hit the FREE wine to entertain ourselves with. We were even told that we could'nt have any more because we had drunk it all ( i think she was lying to try and shut us up). We arrived at our hostel in central Sydney where we were dragged off for a tour of the city, as you can probably guess i wasn't too impressed when we returned back after about three hours in a very tired state. First stop was Hyde Park, we walked throught ... read more

We survived the camping trip to the Outback of Central Australia to see Uluru and the Olgas. They are truly remarkable, very ancient sandstone monoliths that change colour in response to changing sun angles and a real contrast to the surrounding flat desert. We also visited Kings Canyon like a miniature Grand Canyon. We were rudely awaoken each morning at 4:30am and off hour later to do our hiking early and beat the heat. And what heat - unusual for this time of year - it hit the low 40's every day - you could almost feel your boiling. Surprisingly, there is vegetation out here, ever some gum trees along with shrubs and the endless spiky Spinifex grass. How the Aborigines survived in these conditions is amazing. We saw little wildlife other than lizards - sensibly ... read more

Tuesday, 12 October 2004 This mornings session at the Kindergarten was the shortest I have experienced. I got to the room at nine o'clock, only eight children needed to be photographed and was finished three-quarters of an hour later. I headed north out of Bendigo, by way of the Midland Highway. This took me to the border town of Echuca, where I crossed the Murray River and into New South Wales. The town of Moama was passed and I was now on the Cobb Highway. At Deniliquin I left the major highways behind and followed a secondary road to the town of Conargo. I was planning to turn towards the east but at the junction I noticed a sign indicating a lookout, seven kilometers north of town lay a flat landscape which promised to stretch between ... read more
