Monday 2nd We leave fairly promptly for our journey to Lane Cove, a national park on the out skirts of Sydney. It will allow us to travel in on the train. We arrive around 11 am after stopping off a couple of times to take in the views along the way. The usual stunning lakes and mountains in the background. The site is really nice and leads out onto the river. After settling in we take a 4 K walk along the tow path. I'm tempted to go and get my fishing rod, there must be some in here. But I see NO Fishing signs and Christine breaths a sigh of relief ! After lunch we take a 4 K walk in the opposite direction down to the weir. It's a much nicer walk with open ... read more

After our brief stint in Sydney, we headed up Norah Head on the coast of Newcastle. We just picked Norah Head off a map, but I later realised the reason I picked it was probably because I remembered the name from photo albums of mums, as her, dad and Caitlin had holidayed there in about 1985 with the Leasks. Anyway, there was only one caravan park in the region, so needless to say we headed there. It was fairly pricey, but it was a gorgeous caravan park. It had all brand new facilites, a jumping pillow and a brand new pool and kids waterfall play area (where we spent most of our time. The pool that is lol :-P). We started off with the view of staying one night as it was so expensive, and ended ... read more

Hello How much crazier is this holiday going to become?! Before I get to the "crazy" part lets flash back to yesterday, Thursday. The landing of my Jetstar flight in to Sydney's airport was super. Nice view on the Harbour Bridge and Opera House when approaching the airport. After bagage claim I jumped on a train into the city and walked directly to my hotel. Checked in into my hotel and than changed clothes and off I went. Destination : Andrew Charlton's swimming pool. It was sooo nice to do my laps there. After swimming I made a walk on Oxford Street, known for it's many gay bars and shops. Than it was time to chang clothes again and await the arrival of Jason. Jason took me to this really great restaurant: http://thewinerybygazebo.com.au/. Not only did ... read more

Our Camping Trip... So a few months ago I wanted to go camping, problem was no one had a tent. Grant's parents rememberd this when his birthday came around, and guess what he got... yup a tent. ha ha. So a few weeks ago we decided we needed to put the tent to use and went camping in Nora Head for a quick little weekend getaway out of the city. It was a great little trip, we explored some of the beaches, and there is a very pretty lighthouse out on the point. We also drove into The Entrance and saw tons of pelicans which I had never seen in person and thought they were quite interesting creaters, very freaky looking! Had the best fish and chips and calamari feast for only $9 for 2 i've ... read more

Ok so I've started this travel blog even though I won't be travelling until June next year, but I'm so excited about our trip that I'm way ahead of myself in most aspects! Wait, now that I think of it, I'm not really haha. In regards to the planning, wellllll I think I need to get that a little bit more detailed than what we have currently. So far all we know is that we're going to go to England until December, and then we're going to come back for Christmas (I have a baby sister due in January 09 so it will be her first Christmas!) to leave again in January. From then on we'll be living in England for about a year, working to save up for our trip to the US in 2011 ... read more

After a few hours drive we found ourselves a nice small campsite on the edge of a lake in "The Entrance" and put our tent up for the last time. One of the main things we needed to sort out that week was to try and sell all the camping gear, but unfortunatly the local second hand shops didnt want to go near tents so we were thinking we'd probably just end up leaving it all in the camp kitchen for a lucky camper and just not make any money back on it. But then the owner of the site offered to take it all off our hands in return for free nights- bargain!! Australia was meant to be alot surfing and relaxing on beaches, but unfortunalty the weather limited our beach time and we'd ... read more

A big trip for us today of about 200 Km with a brief stop at Bulahdelah. Are now at yet another lovely seaside town. The caravan park is situated between the sea and the entrance to the lake and we have a bit of a view over the channel which is a popular spot with some pelicans. They are fed daily on the other side of the water.... read more

Okay, we're at some place called The Entrance which I think is such a bizarre name for a place. For miles (or kilometers) you drive towards the highway with signs promising, "The Entrance" (drumroll). As it turns out, it's a bridge that connects one spit of land to another... As I said, we got here via The Blue Mountains, so back to that... Back on Friday, we left the Hyde Park Inn around 10 am and drove to Bondi Beach but it was raining lightly, just not beach weather. The beach was crescent shaped, not far from downtown Sydney with impressive waves. Surfers were trying but they weren’t getting the waves we saw at Manly Beach. We didn’t stay long. The weather wasn’t inspiring. There were neat shops across the street and likely good restaurants ... read more
