Here’s some news we prepared earlier. The Easter Bun Rush has started at the Buttercup Bakery, and other employees have told us that we could be working 5 or 6 x 12 hour shifts per week. At the moment, that doesn’t seem to be a reality, because they keep bringing in 4 hour shifts. The regulars aren’t happy - they’d like to be offered extended work opportunities. Peter has had one 12 hour evening shift and one shorter one. Wendy has had a few more, varying shifts. Apparently, most of the production at the moment is for freezing in Sydney, in readiness for the huge demand closer to Easter. We’re already sick of the sight of bread rolls and Easter buns!!! And 60 buns per tray make for heavy work. At least Wendy gets to handle ... read more

The 5 hour Greyhound coach journey was for once and real pleasure as there were only 10 people on the coach and once we reached Newcastle there was only myself and another guy from the UK named Richard that continued to Tamworth were l got off and made my way to the YHA about a 15 minute walk from the coach stop. From Office boy to Cowboy in 5 easy steps Our pick up from the YHA was planned for 10am so once up and ready l had time to take a quick tour of the local area and my daily intake of fresh coffee. Viel hat sich nicht geändert seit meinem letzten Beitrag. Wir sind noch immer in Manilla, noch immer auf dem „River Gums“ Campingplatz, sind tagsüber noch immer am Fliegen und verbringen die Abende noch immer im Pub. Na ja, immerhin, ein paar Kleinigkeiten gibt es doch zu berichten. Fliegerisch war nach meinem wunderschönen Streckenflug erstmal wieder eine gehörige Portion Frustrationstoleranz angesagt. Die Bedingungen waren schwach, meistens kratzte ich eine Weile am Berg herum und musste letzten Endes meist nach einem kurzen und wenig spaßigen Flug im West-Bombout landen. Mit allem, was dazugehört. Also Bergablandung im hohen Gras mit Steinen drin, dann den Drachen mehrere hundert Meter bergauf durch Gras und Felsbrocken schleppen. In der vergangenen Woche haben wir ganz schön Kilometer abgerissen. Aber von vorn. Ich holte Tigran vom Flughafen ab. Sydney ist ja das reinste Labyrinth. Als ich in die Stadt hineinfuhr, war der Flughafen die ganze Zeit angeschrieben, also dachte ich mir, das wird ja easy. Mal wieder Fehlanzeige. Als ich Richtung Harbour kam, musste ich mich entscheiden, ob ich die Brücke oder den Tunnel nehmen wollte. Für beides muss man Maut bezahlen, auf der Brücke kann man bar bezahlen, im Tunnel nur per e-payment. Also entscheid ich mich für die Brücke. Der Flughafen war dummerweise nur durch den Tunnel angeschrieben, so dass ich mich auf der anderen Seite der Brücke ohne Wegweiser wiederfand und mir den Weg von einem Ranger beschreiben lassen musste.
