Hey guys, it's murf here again with a round up of our preparations for Christmas in Oz. Here goes..The girls and I had no idea what to expect with Christmas away from home. In a way we were looking forward to it but had a fear of feeling a little homesick. That said we made the most of our first Christmas away from the emerald isle and needless to say it was amazing. Our Christmas prep started in the first week of December with us posting home our pressies and cards. For those of you who were lucky enough to get something we hope you liked it and for those of you who didn't get a thing..we're sorry but my God the postal service in Oz is scandalous..i.e so dam expensive. Anyhow not meaning to be a ... read more

Well we flew back to Sydney from Christchurch NZ last night. We stayed at the NOVATEL in Brighton. This morning we are downloading all the photos we took and are packing proper for the return flight. This has been one of the greatest vacations I have ever taken and it is not just the countries but traveling with my son Jordan. Our flights are at 4PM tonight and I get back in CT on Saturday morning. I stop in San Francisco for about 4 hours and will pick up a few things (sour dough bread) before continuing on to JFK. Its lightly raining here in Sydney but we are going to try to get some panarama shots prior to leaving and post them. To all who read this, I hope you enjoy the photos and if ... read more

We all got up, called Stephen to say night night, we again had a nap we finally piled into the car to go to search for a new table for the yard. As the weather was nice we went to the local version of B&Q called Bennetts and I soon realised that Australia is the home of DIY, it was extremely busy with people buying plants for their "Spring" gardens (weird). As we left I was introduced to an Oz style sausage sizzle for lunch which consisted of a hot dog picnic on the grass verge next to the car. With our newly purchased table on the roof rack and the sun sails in the boot we set off for home. With the kids packed off for their nap my sister went into Mum cleaning frenzy ... read more

After my 3 hour nap, I felt more revived but the kids were on top form again the trip to the park ended up with us sitting in the Yard, it was much cooler now so we managed to cause more havoc than before as it was time to water the plants. Yes, mud, muck and everything else all over, my sister's other half came back from his sailing trip and we talked about life and things as the kids were corralled towards dinner, bath and bed. At last we managed to get the wireless network to accept my laptop and I was instantly speaking to Stephen at home having his crunchy nut cornflakes via skype. Feeling much happier we all had a lovely meal of lasagne and paddled off to bed early. ... read more

After trying to get 2 kids, 3 adults, all of my luggage and a push chair into the car we manage to set off for my new home in the "burbs" of Sydney. We are all hyper trying to catch up on the time lost between May and present day, I'm trying to keep up but the jet lag is starting to tell. We dumped my luggage, 1 adult and 1 child at the house and pushed onto the local car boot sale to catch some bargains. Whilst my neice was on the bouncy castle I chatted to the guy who was taking payment for the ride. "How long have you been here", he asked, "about 2 hrs I replied" amazingly he said "well welcome to Australia" and shook my hand. After returning home we had ... read more

Hi All, Firstly I must appologise for not having put up any pictures since our arrival. We haven't had plastic surgery and are waiting for the scares to heal or anything like that, honestly. I'll get to it straight away. Actually the Sydney marathon is on this Sunday and they're running right by our apartment so there should be many excellent photo ops. I don't have any work today so I've a free day for a much needed (I'm told) catch up, although I have some shopping, cleaning and chores to catch up on as well. When we were travelling we were always saying how nice it would be to get to Sydney and have a base for 6 months and not have to be living out of a backpack and all that. Now we're just ... read more

Well sydney is fantastic. seen some sights and have had a few scooners!! we done a river boat cruise one night around the harbor, amazing views. the opera house and the bridge are so big. it was a lovely nite out. another day we climbed the bridge, it was pretty scary at times on the way up & down when you look down and the cars are so tiny. but when you are standing on the top it is a real calm feeling, and of course the views are fantastic, your not allowed to take your camera or anything up in case you drop it and your in a 'lovely' jump suit and attached to a safety wire etc but they took photos for us. one day we had a family day with the malloys. played ... read more

So…after July came an overwhelming August filled with one exciting event after another!! Who’d of thought it could top fancy dresses & Christmas in July - but it did! Woke up at 8am and a little sad I miss sunrise an hour ago because I can lay in my bed and see some of the beautiful Sydney skyline AND the Pacific Ocean. I definitely will not want to live anywhere other than a city after this! Don't really have any special plans for today (Monday). Everyone is at Orientation or their Internship, so I figured I will get some laundry out of the way since (apparently) the dryers take over 2 hours to dry your clothes. So, I figured I'd tell you guys a little bit more about Aussie Kulcha (aka culture, just trying to throw in the accent there... haha)! 1. No, the toliet doesn't swirl the opposite way! It actually just kind of flushes straight down. The funny thing about most toliets here ... read more
