Weather: Hot. After a quick stroll down the breakwall we decided it was far too hot, so got in the Camper and headed for the Waterfall Way. This is a road that goes through National Parks that boast spectacular waterfalls. We spotted a couple, had lunch at another and then headed for Coffs Harbour. Great campsite !! Pool with fountains and slides and stuff, pitch that was spacious and shady, beach just a VB stubby throw away and, more importantly, dolphin friendly action a five minute walk away. So spent this morning (23rd) petting dolphins and kissing seals (their breath is as you would expect given their raw fish diet and inability to hold a toothbrush) which was great fun. Also very rewarding to see Ozzie mums slapping their kids around cos they didn't want to ... read more

Well... We are getting used to our little home now. We have also managed to upload some pictures onto the blogs so you can all see what we have been getting up to. We have been travelling down the Gold Coast and into NSW for the past few days. We have stayed at a different campsite each night - some have been better than others! We drove out of Brisbane and down to Tambourine Mountain, where we had an exciting/scary walk through some rainforest to see Curtis Falls. We then made our way to Surfers Paradise- we both really liked it here the beach was v beautiful and there was loads to do. We visited Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and had our photo taken holding a small croc. We weren't very keen even though he had his ... read more

Nov 9. Channel 7 evening news did story!!! Morning spruik. First three people said they'd seen it. Woman in cafe said it was in newspaper. Yes. The Grafton photo/story were in 'Coffs Coast Advocate' which did story months ago. Chilly rainy day spruiked sporadically. Many more mentions of TV. Went to library. Internet. Searched. Website appearing on google search page two or seven depending on wording. Moving up the pecking order. Nov 10. Morning spruik. Council officers told me I couldn't. Walking to car to leave town woman gets sticker and donates. David and Gordon said they were issuing me a $220 fine. I go through usual 'freedom of speech' talk. Nice blokes, unmoved but. Went to council Chambers. Kyme, Assistant General Manager, said, 'If you are going to stand in public and promote your views ... read more

Nov 8. Channel 7 taping this a.m. Spruik Coffs. Library. Web site now upgraded. Flag looks fabulous. $150 well spent. Which brings us to finances. Ten months on the road. Sleeping in car, cooking on barby in park and drinking warm beer. Have a thousand cash to show for it. Soon to be spent on flags. This is not a get rich quick scheme. Its a 'Let's do it' scheme. TV tonight will mean that its working. As for Coffs, heavy overcast, occasional rain. Perfect but. Warm gentle land breeze. I awaited my fate. More mentioned ABC radio. Watched 'Insight' last night to see prejudice all round. Sooty oystercatcher on the strand.... read more

We left Sydney and after a 13 hour bus journey we arrived in Coffs Harbour, nice enough place however, we stayed in the hostel from hell. We even wore flip flops in the shower, and we stayed in bunks...good god! There was a clothes peg that had been left at the end of the bed and had cob webs (attached from the peg onto the bed) on so god knows how long that had been there. We were scared to go to the loo just in case funnel webs came up and bit us! It was just horrible, we checked out and got back on the bus to make our way to Byron Bay.Money is getting tight so we thought we would stay somewhere cheap, but a few extra dollars makes all the difference if you ... read more

Exercise! Oct 5th: We got up this morning at 6:30am and went down to one of the beach houses and made breakfast. Quick oats in a cup and a coffee is quickly becoming a breakfast favourite - both for taste and convenience. With my new sneakers I decided to go for a run - Carolyn came along on her bike and really pushed me hard! I could keep up with her on the uphills, but the downhills were tough! It was great to go for a quick swim in the ocean after this then take a freezing cold shower in the beach house. Brrrrrrrr! Laundry and Lunch We had been saving our laundry for a while now, and decided that we had finally better get some washed! It sure is funny how your sense of clean ... read more

Spent a day round the beach and lighthouse in Byron, good little moment in the evening, sat watching a strong high tide splash against the rocks whilst some hippies or whatever they were played bongos and various windpipes like some sort of pagan ceromony, very entertaining, almost spiritual, no not quite, just nice. Left Byron yesterday on the greyhound and went on down to Coffs Harbour, situtated halfway between Brisbane and Sydney. Staying at an excellent friendly hostel, was out at a 'local' place last night, backpackers almost winning quiz, very dangerous. We were pestered by some 'local' lads who wanted to get to know the girls in our group but the barman threatened to bar them so we were left well alone after that. This morning I went out 'Whale Spotting' very complicated, you sit ... read more

Hey all, Just getting ready to pack up and start travelling again. This is my last weekend in Coffs and I thought I'd throw up some pics of the surf here as requested. I just got back from surfing and am getting ready to go out for the evening. Pretty regular weekend, gonna go for another surf again tomorrow and go jetty jump(a coff's harbour tradition). At the end of next week I'll start three weeks of play as I bus up the coast to cairns making stops along the way over a distance of 2000km(just over 1200miles in case you were wondering). I'll try and continue to put updates up although it may be harder over this next month. I'll be seeing you all soon as I fly home Aug 17th. laters... read more
