Taalla siis ollaan edelleen jumittuneena Sydneyyn. Hauskaa on ollut, bileet Crossissa olis vaikka joka ilta. Niina lahti takasin sinne kylmaan pohjolaan reilu pari viikkoa sitten. Tippa linssissa kattelin taksin takavaloja eraan Uzbekistanilaisen kanssa. (kysykaa Niinalta :P) Ennen Niinan lahtoa ehdittiin kayda Blue Mountainsin retkella ja Taronga Zoossa. Upeat maisemat siella Blue Mountainsilla kuten voitte kuvista todeta!

As it was a long weekend, we took the opportunity to go the Blue Mountains - Sandra's first view, although Simon has been before. We stayed in Wentworth Falls - a pretty little town, and travelled around the many viewpoints of Leura and Katoomba. We also went walking for the day along the National Pass - a naturally occuring ledge in the cliffs which means you can approach Wentworth Falls from below. Spectacular views - but a LOT of steps! ... read more

Happy Burns Night everyone! I finally managed to find some haggis in Sydney and made a burns supper of Haggis, Neeps and Tatties (that's turnip and potatoes for those of you who don't know). I decided i should try and teach the germans some scottish culture and even got them to try and recite a burns poem - absolutely hysterical! Happy 50th Birthday to my Dad too!!! The following day was Australia Day and almost everyone spent it in the pub! We watched the fireworks at Darling Harbour which were pretty good and a jet fighter passed overhead with its burners on which frightened everyone! Had some drinks at The Rocks before dancing the night away in Kings Cross. Last weekend I went on a day trip to the Blue Mountains with Laura and Amy. The ... read more

The Blue Mountains are a range of mountains just 2hrs outside of Sydney and can be one of the most beautiful sites in Australia. Sadly after being really careful and checking the weather daily, we managed to pick the one full day of rain since I've been travelling. Being mountains, we were therefore right up on the clouds and visibility was probably 100 metres. A real shame as I was really looking forward to seeing everything. Even better news which I was unaware of was that Lawrence had booked us on the tour which includes a 4 hour severe hike, drown the massive canyon and up the other side. Hard enough normally but with torrential rain at points making everything slippery, I was no happy bunny! It actually was a good day though. The three sisters ... read more

With only five days remaining until the 'Divorce' we decided to mark the occassion with one last trip together and of course a leaving party. After rave reviews by the Jests when they were here we booked up a day trip to visit the Blue Mountains. This also included a trip to the Olympic park and a visit to a Kangaroo feeding ground within a national park. The Bus picked us up bright and early from Randwick and continued to pick up our fellow tour companions until finally arriving at our first destination which was the Olympic Village where the Olympics were held in 2000. First impressions were to be honest was that it was a bit of a Ghost town. Some magnificent stadiums but seemed to have been forgotten about in the last six years. ... read more

After three full days and two nights in my top bunk bed, I feel almost like a regular backpacker! Day two in Sydney was just as amazing as the first day. Since the time difference still kicked in, and one of my roommates was up and about at 7 am, i figured it would be a great reason to get up and justify why I am lugging my running shoes around with me, and so I set out for a great jog through the botanical gardens and the harbor. I tell, you actually forget that you are running with such beautiful scenery, so 50 min later, i finally made it back to my hostel, took a quick shower, enjoyed a breakfast in the hostel courtyard, consisting of english muffins with Nutella and a white peach (australia ... read more
