Yesterday I went to the blue mountains. They're very pretty mountains! Saw the three sisters (three big tall rocks) and lots of trees! There are huge bushwalks you can do but i was feeling a bit lazy so went in the skyrail car thing! :) Went also to katoomba national park and saw kangarooooooos! (as if i haven't seen enough of them already!!!) Last night went out in sydney to this cool place, with lots of cool music! It was pretty cool! Today i went to see the harbour bridge and the opera house. The opera house is very impressive, i took a guided tour inside it and booked tickets to see macbeth! The bridge is 75 years old tomorrow! i might go sing to it! Came back via the botanical gardens...they're pretty huge, but not ... read more

This has to have been the best day of my trip so far. I booked on to a tour with Nir for $55 (about 20 quid) and was picked up from our hostel my a jolly fat bearded australian at about 8am. There was a bus full of a variety of people including a canadian woman with the fattest arse i have EVER seen, seriously...it was HUUUUUUGE. Anyways, we had a quick stop off at the 2000 olympics site which wasnot that great cos we couldn't go into the stadium we could just look at it from the outside.....yay. Next we headed up to the blue mountains and we were meant to stop off to see some wild kangaroos but the place we were gonna go had been flooded by some freak rainfall or something so ... read more

A two hour train journey from Sydney Central took me to Katoomba, high in the Blue Mountains. The weather was certainly different to what I had experienced recently, cold and wet but changing by the hour to totally clear or to more drizzle. Lucky I brought my jacket, the shops seem to have a thriving trade in warm clothing and waterproofs for the huddled tourists, shivering in T-shirts and sandals! From Katoomba Station, I boarded the Explorer Bus and hopped off just outside town to walk down to Katoomba Cascades. Not particularly impressive cascades, so I headed onwards towards the Prince Henry Cliff Walk. This was much more spectacular, the path winding around the edge of the clifftop providing some superb panoramic views of the Jamison Valley. Particular highlights along the route were Reid's Plateau and ... read more

G'day!! Well as you probably all know by now I am now on my Jack Johnson!! Mum - please don't worry I am ok and keeping safe! Well I arrived safe and well in Sydney on the 19th of February from wonderful Bali which was a bit of a culture shock after spending nearly 3 months in Asia, to be honest I was looking forward to coming somewhere where there are set prices and people aren't trying to rip you off or get you on their motorbike!! I keep walking down the street expecting to hear "hello miss you buy something from my shop?" My mum's old school friend Pat, her husband Ron and their grandson Brandon met me from the airport, it was really nice to have some friendly faces to meet me as I ... read more

We decided to hire a camper van and after checking out from Roslyn Gardens headed out the suburbs to pick up our camper home for the next week. We immediately headed west to the Blue Mountains and the town of Katakoomba. Once set up on the campsite we went for an evening stroll and were immediately astonished by the gorgeous scenery just a minute from our site. The plateau just falls away in huge cliffs to the dense forests below. It is stunning. There is lots of noisy bird life around - especially the raucous cockatoos. ... read more

“WWOOFing”??? Sounds a bit strange I know but it’s a great way to see some of the less touristy areas of Australia AND it gives you free accommodation and food!! “WWOOFing” actually stands for Willing Workers On Organic Farms. Not all the hosts are actually organic farms but it works on the principle that you go and lend a hand with various jobs in exchange for your bed and board. My first experience of WWOOFing was with a lovely family living just south of the Blue Mountains, near Taralga, so plenty more breathtaking scenery to aid my recovery from the festive season in the city. I had a great time doing various odd jobs, playing with the children, fixing the computer (!!) etc. This was definitely a fantastic way to chill out for a couple of ... read more

Ok, well I supposed today would be my last day here in oz.....an like I promised I will post some pictures. Yesterday we went to the blue mountains, which is comparable to driving to Jasper...the kanagroos are also equivalent to the deer we have....just grazing along the side of the road as all the tourists come and take pictures....he he that was me!! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Mountains). You should be able to click on that link to see them, or here (http://www.bluemts.com.au/tourist/thingsToDo/threeSisters.asp). So this is a pretty big thing here, but I do have to say they don't compete with our good ol Rocky Mtns!! Some of the pictures are at the zoo, on the ferry, and some from a the pub crawls. I am off to Bali, and not sure if I will have suc available internet access, ... read more

afternoon to one and all and welcome to the latest update of my travels. plenty to say and it will come as no surprise to any of you to know that plenty of fun has been had and lots of beer has been consumed.Enjoy. anyway with the arrival of our mate Josh and then his mate Emma our flat was starting to get a little crowded, it was therefore decided that it was necessary for us all to get out and about and explore some of the beautiful areas of surrounding Sydney. or to put it another way a chance to go out and drink in another suburb. after much deliberation a journey to the Blue Mountains was the decided course of action. Road trip anyone? Now i should point out that i am still the ... read more

Well today i went on a trip to the Blue Mountains - which is a massive mountain range west of sydney but it goes north and south - it is not just local to Sydney. They are called the Blue Mountains because of the blue haze that you can see above them - although there was a lot of mist today so we couldn't see as far or as clear as you normally can. We went to Echo Point, we saw the Three Sisters, and we saw lots of Australian bush and countryside, and i managed to see kangaroos, a kookaburra and some cockateils in the wild. Not much more to say really - after a lot of mad activities i decided to have a grown up, relaxing day - and i dozed in the coach ... read more
