13th - 19th June 2009 After 3 and a bit months of traveling we were treated like a King and Queen for the week that we stayed at Katrina and Roy's. We always had full bellies and probably a bit too much beer. We had lots of fun playing with the boys and catching up with Katrina and Roy. It was good to see some of Australia without looking at it through a lens and we can thoroughly recommend Ned Kelly pies to all. This was such a great break from traveling and we are both very grateful to Roy and Katrina for putting us up for the week. Thank you very much and see you again soon. ... read more

Keep it going, mate!... read more

Ok, admittedly this isn't about travelling, but I haven't found anywhere else to put this for the moment. It's a little story I put together over 2 lunch hours and a friday morning. I find it amusing, so I hope you do too. The Story of Edward and Belinda - A Twisted Valentine's Day Fairy Tale. For Eliza, Happy Cholera Day! Once upon a time, there was a boy and a girl. Their names were Edward and Belinda and they were in love. They lived in a little cottage on a little street, amongst neighbours who also lived in little cottages on their little street. Every morning, Belinda would wake up first and say, ‘Good morning Edward my love!’ Edward would waken and turn to Belinda and say, ‘Good morning Shnookums!’ ‘I love you so much!’ ... read more

We got a lift to Albury airport with Jenna from Wendy’s work. We were able to check our bags all the way through to Zurich and were issued our boarding passes all the way through to Zurich as well. The flight left on time at 1.40pm and was a smooth uneventful flight. We arrived in Sydney and took the transfer bus to the international terminal and waited in the Qantas Club Lounge for our flight. The flight to Singapore was an hour late as a passenger who had checked in for the flight didn’t board and they had to remove his luggage. The 7 hour flight was smooth and we both sleep a lot of the way. We arrived in Singapore and had to take all our hand luggage and leave the plane. We had a ... read more

Hi everyone Sorry its been a while coming - not been working or anything just too lazy to get our butts in gear!! We awoke on the last day of Oz Intro nice and early to get to the airport for our 12 o clock flight. Did all of our last minute packing and took our quilt (doona they call it!) and pillow to the reception. We got our deposit back and that was it! Oz Intro over and on our own!!! We had an ace week and made lots of friends and it was a bit sad to think we would all be off in seperate directions. We had eveyone's numbers and some of the girls had already left early in the morning. One girl was going to a surf school, another picking grapes. Some ... read more

The 26th Annual District 9810 Rotary Conference took place last weekend in Albury. This city, located about 4 hours away from Melbourne city, was like being in a different world. Set out in the bush area of Australia, we were located in a city with only one main street and lots of little shops around, all closing around 4pm each day. I likened the quaintness of the city to that of a small city like Travelers Rest or Berea. But regardless of its size, over 600 Rotarians from all around our district filled up Dean Street and kicked off another great district conference! We arrived in Albury on a VERY warm Saturday. We opened the conference with a lunch BBQ which gave me the opportunity to network with some surrounding Rotary clubs and organizations. During the ... read more

Part 3.... For the Saturday pub crawl we met at the Coogee Bay Palace hotel around 8 and got a couple of free drinks from the organisers. Everyone was dolled up and chatting as we had all got to know one another by now. We spent a good half hour there before the call came from the organisers that we had to get on the party bus to take us into Sydney. It was about a 40 seater coach that had been, intentionally, spray painted with all sorts of graffiti to make it look like a "party bus" - those crazy antipodeans!!! Like I say, it was a 40 seater which was fine but there were about 80 people on the crawl (2 ozintro groups and one of the leaders mates - it was his birthday!). ... read more

Will try and update some more now - only get a short time free at the library. The Friday I was speaking about, everyone joined us back in the Palace. Was thinking of going into Sydney but they opened a middle level in the Palace which we had not seen before and it was a type of night club. It got heaving and all our lot, and Alison, were dancing their socks off. Not really my cup of tea - they all called me an old man. I kept going to the bottom level for drinks as it was a couple of dollars cheaper!!! About two o'clock, me and Alison went down for another drink and a sit down but when we tried to go back up they had stopped anyone else going back in. we ... read more
