Day 1 (4/4/2021)Temps: Max 30C, Min 11C Departed Cranbourne at 7.55AM. Traffic fairly light since most people are away for the Easter break. Decided that we would get a 2 day head start with fine weather & found a place to free camp that was not flooded with noisy campers. We only had 4 semi trailers pass us on the whole drive, which included regular stops to rest, stretch & have a mental break. Arrived at Jindera at 1.35PM. Jindera is a small town with a population of 2,200. At the local sporting ground they have a free camping area set aside for self contained RV's. The area adjoins the local oval, tennis courts, pool, skate park & wetlands. After setting up & enjoying Happy Hour & relaxing, we strolled across to the Jindera Hotel almost ... read more

No hurry this morning with only 65kms planned for the day. We got up without alarms and we were off just after 8:30am. We left from Yackandanda and travelled through Osborne Flat and then on to Allan's Flat, a slight over shoot of our turn-off had us double back a couple of kms. We are riding in the Kiewa Valley now which is very different from the Goulbourn Valley. We are flanked on both sides by mountains with the really big ones behind us. The valley is very quite and tranquil. Cows grazing in paddocks and moving on as we ride by. Hay sheds slide by on both sides of us either very quickly or oh so slowly depending on the angle of the road and the Sulpher Crested Cockatoos explode out of trees as we ... read more

Albury to Uluru Excited about our big journey, we left Albury with the car and caravan packed and now with a back seat full of kids. Lachie and I (Sheree), have travelled Australia before, but this time we are ready to explore with our 3 girls - Isabelle, Lucy and Juliet. Our first top was in Deniliquin at Willoughby's Beach. We found a nice spot to set up by the Edward river, camping next to Nan and Pa for a couple of nights. We fed the ducks, and dropped our dog Holly off at Lachie's grandparents house after a very filling dinner. Holly will play with their little sausage dog while we holiday, as dogs aren't allowed in national parks. We came across a Giant Murray Cod in Swan Hill, which was used as a movie ... read more

We survived the 15 hour flight to Sydney and it wasn't that bad. It's definately better travelling with kids in many ways because you don't get so bored on these long flights. In fact it's just like a normal day of feeding and trying to get them to sleep! The time seemed to go past quite quickly. It was the first flight I have ever gone without any sleep. Amelia and Samuel seemed to play tag team so that when one was asleep the other woke up. Samuel hardly slept at all to be honest. I don't want to go on about it too much but I can't get over how good the kids were. They really rose to the occasion. We didn't have one tantrum from Mimi. A few moments of being over tired, but ... read more
Looks uncomfortable but she slept like this for 4 hours.
Samuel only just fitted into the bassinet
How's about that?

Arrived on Wednesday night and got a lovely welcome from not only Linda and John but also their families who had prepared a BBQ. On Thursday morning we went to a place called Wodonga where we set up for the camping. Per and John went tubing down the river and fishing however they didn’t catch anything. Friday we decided to do a walk, climb one of the mountains in the area called Bogong. 8 km with a 1500meter ascent. It took us 7.5 hours to go up and down and I probably used 50% of my energy looking for snakes. I did see one little tinny snake, according to Per it was a worm. Anyway we were very tried that evening. Saturday we chilled out had a sleep in and then we went to Gapstead Winery ... read more

Although it is now July the fifth and I am no longer in NSW, all this should have been up on travelblog around the twentieth of May. Albury was my chosen base although I quickly grew tired of the place in favour of Wagga. However, bookings were made and I was finishing up my work in Albury after several awesome weeks where work saw me go from here east to Bateman's Bay via Canberra where I then went north to Nowra and then followed the Hume Highway from Goulbourn back to Albury. It was very educational - it gets very very cold on the Great Dividing Range and most mornings my camp was frozen. Being the railway fan that I am, I made a stop at most stations on the way. I loved the railway - ... read more
