Ann here -- I would make Katt post this entry but it's 11:15pm here and she is in Manhattan with David, their 22 year old cousin Steve and his girlfriend Brie. Got the group going at about 1pm today... drove into Manhattan with tour guide Phil at the wheel. Made a quick pit stop by his local hangout (the bike shop) so we could see the place. Once in the city, we parked near Phil's office near 37th and 7th Ave. Refrained from stopping at any of the shops in the garment district (for now). Hopped on the subway and took it to 59th St and Broadway. David now knows why you hang on when the subway doors close! :) Walked up Broadway to Columbus Ave... walked up Columbus parallel with Central Park. Adding all ... read more

I have finally made it into Canada and tricked my way into being able to work on a visa yay!!!!! Kidding, it was completely legit. I got into the lobby of the hotel I was staying and got a big hug from Ashley, one of the coolest chicks in the world and my old housemate. It was really great to see a familiar face. We hung out in the room because I was completely exhausted. However we did make it out to an excellent mexican restaurant where we orded way too much food. Ahh well. Today we were up fairly early and did some errands before catching the ferry and bus up to the Cappilano Suspension Bridge. It is very beautiful there and I am so glad that I went, even though the damn bridge swayed ... read more

Half & half Saturday, 30 June 2007 We woke up to a very rainy morning, although by the time we’d finished breakfast it had stopped. There’s an “ecological reserve” within walking distance of the motel, so I decided to go there with Panna for part of my exercise. As there are no sidewalks to the place we cut across the parking lot of a large indoor pool/sports complex, and lo & behold we found a path to the reserve. It was a lot like the Beaverpond area of Kanata, but more organized from a historical, informative perspective. The property had belonged to a local auctioneer, last name Dulmage, and some ruins from his home & farm buildings are still there & indicated with marker signs. Plus there’s a wooded trail which goes around the reservoir (like ... read more

We visited Jamestown, Va during their 400 year celebration and on to Yorktown where we emersed ourselves in the history eeking from every corner of the town. We have a real sense of what sacrifices were made to create this great country!... read more

For the first entry in the plog we thought we'd let everyone in on the pre-planning/packing stage. We leave this Monday, the 2nd of July so it's about time we got down to the shops to purchase our don't leave home without it products like a head lamp, nylon rope, a striped v-neck, a new sweat belt (hidden money pouch) and then some more obscure items like trekking shoes, a travel purse and a lock. At this point you can probably tell who bought what... anywho, basically we're testing this baby out. ... read more

Good Morning, I don't think that I have been up this early in a long long time! I headed off to Logan Airport to catch an 8:20 flight to London, than it's off to India on a 9:20pm flight! It's going to be a long day of travelling, but I'm really looking forward to meeting the other students and medical staff at the program site. So Bon Voyage....My next entry will be from the other side of the planet! Happy Friday and cheers for 4 weeks off! ... read more

With Vegas (and its heartbreak) behind us, we headed over to California to check out the west coast. We drove through some severe traffic (like really, really bad) and finally arrived in San Diego. Tired from our energizing time in Vegas and long trip, we chilled at the hotel. We ordered pizza, caught up on the new episode of Entourage, and hit the sack. We woke early the next morning, ate breakfast at a little place called the Hob Knob Hill, and made our way over to the beach. San Diego is a beautiful, laidback city that has a great feel to it. There are many different beaches to choose from and we ended up at Pacific Beach. It was good weather, sunny and warm, and we hung out on the beach for a couple ... read more

Friday, June 29, 2007 Woke up and left Hays around 10:30ish after having sandwiches for breakfast. The only difference today in regards to the view is that it is sunny, other than that it is still flat farmland. Today seems more beautiful though, maybe because we are getting used to the view? I do like mountains though and there is not much water around either… Much easier to tell the difference between cattle and bales of hay in the sun too! Thank you for the clarification Susan! Elan: “We couldn’t have done it without you Aunt Susan!” ☺ Also bales of hay are brown while the cattle are sometimes brown but often white or black! Lots of fields of corn everywhere. We read that Interstate 70 is Main Street, USA. It goes from Washington, D.C. to ... read more

Well, we took a road off our path (I really wanted to see Slave Lake - a huge lake with sand beaches) - and guess who was driving and got us in spot that we couldn't turn around?? Yep, it would be me - and Alvin wasn't real happy about disconnecting the car so he could back the motorhome out of a really tight space! Then, we almost ran out of gas before we got to Dawson Creek - but just when he thought he might have to unhook the car again and go for gas - up came up lone station - with absolutely nothing around it - but they had gas!! We get into Dawson Creek right after a huge rain storm - get into the campground and get hooked up and barely got ... read more
