DAY 14 Ian's bike would not start this morning. It has done it once before. It will start with a tow which we did and discovered it will also start by by-passing the solenoid by a screwdriver across the terminals. We assumed because of this it was probably a faulty solenoid. While this was going on beside the road, Brenton noticed his front tyre was half deflated. He changed the tube but noticed the tyre wouldn't bead properly on the rim. He decided it would probably pop out while riding so we got going. Once again great gravel tracks through forests some gnarly, rocky & testing and some fast gravel roads. Woopdies & thick gravel in places kept us on our toes. We stopped for brunch after 100kms at a traditional American diner. After this break ... read more

You may recall, that I left you all with a bit of a cliffhanger at the end of the last episode. How far away was Hurricane Lee? Would it hit Mount Desert Island before the Famous Four managed to get away? Would they all be stranded at the Kimball Terrace Inn and would they all have to hunker down in one room and listen to the wind whistling through the crack in Steve & Lily's balcony door? These questions and many more will be answered in this next thrilling episode of Gone with the Wind, meets The Perfect Storm, meets Twister and starring Claude Rains (yes he was a British actor from the 30s and 40s) playing Steve Forbes, Hurricane Higgins (in his acting debut) playing Paul Kilby, Michelle Gayle (once of Eastenders) playing Lily Forbes ... read more

Rain, rain go away!!! This was a day of rain, rain, Rain!! It started raining when I went outside to start loading the car….It never stopped!!! Today was a travel day from Freeport, Maine to North Conway, New Hampshire. This is the cabin Terry pick out because of the fishing stream in the backyard. It wasn’t a long trip (only about 2 hours) but it was going to rain all the way there. On top of that, because of his injury, Terry wasn’t going to be able to fish!! When we left our barn apartment, we drove into Freeport. I noticed a McDonalds there that was in a house and I wanted to check it out. Of course it was raining. I got a few pictures but didn’t go inside. It was a neat place and ... read more

Indiana Dunes National Park is a treasure in northwestern Indiana. We enjoyed hiking a dune and walking a beach. The Indiana Dunes is home to one of the most biologically diverse habitats in the nation. There are 15 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, dunes, wetlands, prairies, and old-growth forests. A place to enjoy outdoor adventures of all kinds! We boondocked at Dunewood Campground in the Indiana Dunes National Park. The sites were surrounded by trees, very peaceful.... read more

We have slowed up. No…..not because we are old. More the thought of the season’s change telling us to stop running around and start thinking about packing up the RV. Travel time is ahead. Start getting your gear in gear. We are heading out on September 25th. Lulu will be doing her usual task of checking you all in. She's so thorough and capable. What would we do with her? Love that Lulu! With each year that passes, we find we are getting older….amazing, huh? We have been thinking about putting some roots down.…somewhere. We love living in our RV and aren't quite ready to give it up yet. We have been full-timing it since we sold our house in 2019. We so enjoy living in a house on wheels. 🎶The wheels of the bus go ... read more

I started visiting San Francisco as a teenager in the Sixties. Our high school honor society rewarded us with a three-day weekend in the late winter/early spring. We took the yellow school bus to the City, often stopping at places like Cal, Stanford, IBM, and the Ford assembly plant. But the highlight was always the City itself. We stayed in an old hotel (Golden State Hotel) on Powell and Ellis Streets, near the cable car turntable, Woolworth's, and the famous John's Grill. I still recall sharing the bathroom with an adjoining room. I doubt anything like that exists any longer. But we enjoyed being on our own, away from our small town, and determined to act like sophisticated kids in the big City. The memories are too numerous to mention, but I will relay some of ... read more

Today we had breakfast in our apartment. Cooking was a little challenging as we had no range. We did have a microwave and an air fryer that would allow you to bake. I was going to make sausage gravy and biscuits, but there were no microwavable bowls to make the gravy. So I fried the sausage, baked the biscuits and we had biscuits and sausage sandwiches. They were quite good Following breakfast we headed into Freeport to the big L.L. Bean store. This was the reason we came here because both Ed and Terry didn’t have enough time in the store when we were here last year. This store has everything! Of course everything is so expensive. It’s hard to justify a purchase. we will have to wait till the Christmas sales are on! Just down ... read more
