(Near Atlanta, GA) Here are our landmarks: increased traffic, lit-up billboards, the passing time. The things I carry: sleeping bag, a Spanish play, a memoir, wallet, pillow, sweatshirt, old jeans just bought at the Salvation Army store, t-shirts, gloves, thick rubber boots, towel, flip-flops, bathing necessities. The people I'm with: Rachel (my roommate), Rose (from Ireland), Tamara (from Cocktails, my a cappella group), Tom (my Methodist minister and a campus chaplain), and 108 (or so) other USC students neatly packed into two charter buses. We're going to Biloxi, Mississippi. Hurricane Katrina hit weeks ago, tearing Biloxi to pieces, overrunning New Orleans (and much of the Gulf Coast) with mud, muck, and water. A madhouse. I just got back from New York, NY, visiting my best friend Jake and his girlfriend Liz. They live in the lower west side of Manhattan, right near NYU and Soho...Their apartment is 2x as big as my Jeep Cherokee and, needless to say, we were a bit cramp. But being so close to each other brought some great times. Jake works for a music television station called Fuse and is somewhat handy with a video camera. After compiling all his footage from our graduation roadtrip a couple summers ago, he made this amazing "movie" (and its a real movie!) of all of us throughout those amazing 16 days. Well, we're back in the USA. It is obviously growing on us because as we crossed the border we almost experienced a “back home” feeling. Once again we had a very pleasant customs officer and it all went very smoothly. Having crossed the border into Montana we headed to Glacier national park. It is illegal to take a vehicle longer than 28ft through the park so we took a tour on the “going to the sun” road in a very individual vehicle during which you cross the “continental divide”. It is at this point the rivers run either east or west into the oceans. We also saw the wonderful valleys and peaks carved out by glaciers We then headed of to Missoula. Martín pidió el día libre, no era para menos ya que yo soy su mejor amigo. Inicialmente había pensado pasear en segway, pero al final fuimos de nuevo a Ikea a compra unos marcos de fotos bien bacanes (que no sé donde dónde voy a poner) y luego seguimos con las compras en el North Point Mall.
