Today was going to be a big travel day and Tory and Jenn took Rosie and Vivian in the Tahoe while Steve and Mike took Grayson, Ellie, and Nathan in the Ford truck pulling the camper. We packed up the remainder of the camper and headed out for the drive to Townsend and Cade’s Cove. It took about 5 hours to get to Jenns parent’s house, Kirby and Donna (Paw and Maw.) With 5 kids there were many bathroom and food breaks at Dunkin’ Donuts, the side of the road, and McDonald’s for lunch. The 3 big kids talked the whole ride and were on pretty good behavior while Rosie and Vivian watched movies happily during the drive. We got to Kirby and Donna’s house in Townsend and were greeted and treated very well. We thought ... read more

This morning Tanya left so we decided to go over towards the North Carolina Side of the Mountain and hike Alum Cave trail which is a 1/3 moderate rating and 2/3 strenuous rating and 2.3 miles each way. It proved to be challenging but fun. It was an awesome hike through some rugged terrain and when we arrived there we enjoyed the wonderful views from up there and a little snack before heading back. On Monday the weather was a little sketchy and camp needed tidying up a bit. There was a clearing in the weather for a few hours so we took the opportunity to run the Tail of the Dragon Motorcycle Ride which consists of 318 curves in 11 miles, that was awesome, so awesome we did it twice. We then saw the storm ... read more

Well it's Thursday the 4th of June and we have a visitor coming from Wisconsin, Kathy's daughter Tanya. We are enjoying a relaxing day at the campgrounds getting a few things done while enjoying the day. The weather forecast for the weekend is hot and sunny so it should be a great visit. Tanya arrives at 5PM and we start the visit with one of our favorite dinner's Kathy's homemade chicken salad, a fire and a few laughs. Friday we decided to go up the mountain VIA horseback near Pigeon Forge, TN and enjoy some sights from a different perspective. It was a wonderful unguided ride and so peaceful it was incredible. We then ventured back to Gattlinburg, TN so she could take in the sights along the way and see the commercialized little town. One ... read more

We arrived in Townsend Tennessee on 28th of May and found a really cool place in the world. The area is awesome with wonderful views of water, streams, and mountainous terrain. The neighbors we meet in the campground are awesome and only live 30 miles from here. They come and enjoy all summer long and were a wealth of information and help of what sites to see and best things to do. We started out on Friday the 29th with a motorcycle ride through the mountains to Cades Cove. I have a cute picture of the first guy we meet here in the mountains below. We were pulled over for no helmets. I didn't even look because we saw people all over town not wearing helmets. Well as it turns out there was a huge motorcycle ... read more

After a day of fun in Pigeon forge we decided we would go for a hike. While in Cades cove on our bikes we found a 2.5 mile hike to Abrams Falls so we decided we would start with this hike. It was a 2.5 mile hike up and down through mud, rocks, just a wonderful array of views and sites along the way through the woods. It was a fun Hike although we did get rained on a bit but when we arrived at the falls it was a wonderful treat and well worth the trip through the woods. After the hike while exiting the park we came across our first bear who was protecting her cubs from a hungry coyote. That was fun to watch for a few minutes before heading back to camp. ... read more
