Takeing pictures around Camden was a lot of fun and I could not have done it without Fords help. There are some really cool off the beaten path roads with really big houses. I still get very lost on Broad. I rode a bike and he ran. The historical sites were fun except that most of the time the houses was so far away it was not picture worthy or their was a private drive sign out front. We even found this really exciting sign about ruins but if they were their we did not see them. Photography ofCamden is more event related Cup racing, reactments, polo matches. But it made for a really fun afternoon with my brother who is now taller than me! and the fittest person I know!... read more

I went on a very miserable trip yesterday. It was 100 degrees and this trail said it was a six mile loop moderate to beginner. I set off and about halfway through realized I had left my water in the car. I was hot and thirsty. The trail would have been okay but there were a lot of sandy spots. When going downhill I picked up speed but I would have to slow down because of the sand. It really was not even a pretty trail. I went down to the actual park and that was pretty. i just really like water trails the nature trail really did not impress me. ... read more

Today i went to my favorite place to ride my bike. i am not sure why but The Canal is just the right distance for me. It was really crowded today because I went early in the morning and everyone was trying to beat the heat. I was also upset because they are working on the dam so there was a lot of construction which marred the view. But it was still good it gave me time to let my thoughts roam. I never realized what a city of bridges Columbia is. But not pretty bridges like Paris. Like in the movie Sabrina when she goes to the different bridges to read and write and its quaint pretty and romantic. Columbia is more of practical bridge city. With Canal on one side and the Congaree on ... read more

So I am starting my journey around Columbia on my bike. While I am really excited about all the traveling i am going to be doing I have not really explored the place I have lived for the past four years. Yes, i have seen the daily routes but what does Columbia really have that i have not experienced. Today was beautiful I could not have asked for a more perfect day and a great place to start. The Cayce riverwalk is an easy bike by beautiful water. I took some great pictures even took time to crawl out on the rocks and drink in the beauty. If you are looking for an easy walk through the shade, like bridges the riverwalk is great. There were more people then I would have liked there are buildings ... read more

i signed up to study abroad on a whim. now i'm beginning to understand it was all part of a bigger plan... if you know me at all, you know 2006 has been a crazy year. i've been trying to figure out what i should be doing with my time, what my major should be, and who i should spend my time with. i've always been an impatient person, so its easy for me to want to have everything figured out as quick as possible. however, that's not always how it plays out in life. hopefully, my time in mexico will give me a chance to distance myself from everything that's been going on, and i'll come back a little tired, con un poco mas experiencia con espanol, but mostly with some sort of clarity about ... read more

This morning Ed made it to the beach for some stretching and I made it to the picnic table to drink my tea. The girls got in their TV time while we grilled some French toast and then it was time for the activities to begin. I got my walk on the beach in while Ed took the girls to the pool. Then Daisy (Ed’s mom) joined us with homemade fried chicken (which is a favorite food group for both Jacquelyn and I). As we were eating chicken, Danielle looked at Ed and asked why the hair on the side of his head was white. Amidst the laughter, she got a response that it was mature blonde. Now, Jacquelyn was not going to let that pass so Ed got a comment back along the lines that ... read more

This is a different life. Wake up (pretty much all at the same time due to the noise the first person makes), sit down and breathe, make breakfast while the kids watch tv/dvd, eat, decide what play activity we do first but before we do it transform the rv back from bedrooms to dayrooms and clean breakfast up, then spend the day flowing from one activity to another with large breaks back at the rv for sitting and breathing (the adult activity, yesterday the kids breathing activity related to 50 water balloons and a water hose), have a break in the activities for lunch and dinner (and a nap), always cleaning up anything you do because you have to, and then showers, maybe some more tv/dvd and then sleep. So yesterday’s activities were the lazy river, ... read more

I decided to walk around Congaree national forest before picking up Tyler and Allie from their canoe trip. The Congaree was beautiful but I got a whole lot farther in then I thought and ended up running out trying to make it on time to pick up Tyler and Allie. I was late anyways because I got sooooooo lost. But the Congaree was amazing. I saw an alligator which made me run ten times faster I thougtht I was going to die. I saw butterflies, snakes and birds oh my. The yellow flowers along the banks made think I was walking amonst gold it was great. ... read more
