This morning we awoke and leisurely packed up for our trip to our last KOA, Medford/Gold Hills KOA Journey. It was only a 3 1/2 hour trip with little to stop and see along the way, so we were in no hurry. We stopped at Rays Food Place in Bandon for a couple of cups of coffee, then found a good beach viewpoint at Coquille Point. After some good photos and a little coffee, we were on our way. We cut across Oregon to reach Interstate 5 South, passing through a lot of mountain passes and small towns. By the time we reached the interstate, we were ready for lunch, so we started checking out each exit to see what they had. We ended up getting off at an exit that had an A&W Root Beer place. I ordered a mushroom and onion melt burger with fries and of course an A&W Root Beer, and Manoli had loaded fries. Everything was pretty tasty.

We got back on the interstate and traveled the last 50 miles or so to our exit for the KOA at Gold Hills. The KOA was right off the highway, like they said, but it had the

longest entry drive we've seen. The KOA office, swimming pool, and cabin are the usual, except no air conditioning in our cabin, and the temperature has risen dramatically. We have the fan on high, but it doesn't help much. After unpacking and relaxing for a while, I tried the swimming pool but just couldn't go all the way in... too cold. Later in the evening, I went down the road to Gold Hills, found their Rays Food Place and ordered a variety of food, including potato wedges, cheese curds, mac'n'cheese, and a chili cheese corn dog. All the food was okay, except the corn dog was a little tough. After dinner I found a DVD movie in the store I could borrow, called Eloise at Christmas Time. We watched the movie then settled in for the night.

Tomorrow we plan on making the 1 1/2 hour drive up to Crater Lake, and pretty much spend the day there.
