So bear with me if there are misspelled words and the grammar is incorrect. Thanks for reading.Today, we did nothing. We slept in. Glenn did help Forest load up their new dryer into the utility room. Then they did some other odd jobs around the house.I enjoyed watching the golfers on the golf course - hole 9. I pulled out a lawn chair, and sat and watched the group of ladies come, men, then mixed couples. Some folks were very good, others were not good at all.I tried to keep quiet and not talk with Carol, when the golfers were on the green. It was very relaxing ... read more

So bear with me if there are misspelled words and the grammar is incorrect. Thanks for reading. On our way to Sanford, where the Kendall's live, we did a letterbox in the parking lot of a Walmart in Ashboro, NC Glenn was pretty sure that the letter box was not there. I said, "Glenn, it's a "Where's George?" letterbox plant". Sure enough, we investigated more along the guard rail, and found it! Yippee. We continued on to Sanford, NC where Forrest and Carol Kendall live. The Kendalls have been good friends since we arrived in Guatemala 10 years ago. Now they are re-locating, bit by bit, here to ... read more

Some times I just want to get away from the civilized life, other times it's to take a walk and see all the beauty of nature, or like this past weekend it can be to share my love of a preserve with people who had yet to experience it. I could ask "What's your excuse?" as in why you weren't in the woods this weekend. There are many great and wonderful places in North Carolina to explore. We have the highest peak east of the Mississippi River to the sun drenched outer banks. But if you're like me you may live somewhere close to center of the state and find it hard to travel so far for adventure. You may also wonder what wilderness the seemingly flat lands of the peidmont and sandhills holds. Here in ... read more

So where do I begin, I guess a long time ago in a land quite a few miles from here. My father has always been an outdoorsman, not the kind that climbs the Himilayas, but lafayette and Mt Washington in New England. His father taught him to hunt and survive in the wild and in an honarable family tradition, he passed his knowedge onto me. He also had a heavy appreciation for he Native americans, he spent some time in New Mexico learning their ways, eating their food, and experiencing the culture. He talked about the destruction of the land when he was young. How they built a neighborhood behind the family's property, about how him and his brothers tried to shoot the tires out of construction equipment with homemade bows and arrows. He taught me ... read more

Hello all, I have returned from my beautiful adventure studying abroad in Lampeter, Wales!! I have since my last post said goodbye to many close friends and someone even closer, traveled to the gorgeous Scottish Highlands and the ancient city of Edinburgh, came together with my close friends and family at home and had a fantastic Christmas Holiday. Adjusting to home life is much harder than I expected. I still have so much to say about Scotland but am still digesting the idea that this adventure is over. I put a lot of my heart into those Ceredigion hills and a lot of my dreams are scattered all across cities and countrysides of the UK. I still hear music and laughter and jokes and stories, and I still see mountains and rivers, castles and trees. I ... read more

It has always been my very highest dream to take a trip to the UK. Mostly I wanted to visit Scotland because my last name is Stewart and my family has always been very proud of our heritage. Then after learning about my Irish heritage from my Groggy and after doing loads of family research on the famine and the trip from Boston to Kansas I wanted to go to Ireland. I was always sort of an anglophile and wanted nothing more than to visit London someday as well. I never dreamed that I would be headed to south west Wales to find my temporary home in Lampeter, Wales where to I will be heading very shortly. As a military brat I have always been moving around, I never get to pick where, but I always ... read more
