... read more

Hello! And the blog continues, Part 2!! Tomorrow afternoon I leave for Santiago, Chile where I will be studying abroad for the next 2 months :) I first fly to Miami then take an overnight flight on January 2nd to arrive in Santiago on the morning of the 3rd. Chile is actually 2 hours ahead of Eastern Time in the US, so we land at 9:30 a.m. but it will really only be 7:30 here. I am traveling down to Chile with my friend Ashley from Furman (not flying by myself this time, horray!) and we are meeting up with students from the University of Delaware in the airport (I hope!) I'm thinking that this travel abroad experience will be totally different from Spain, so I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. Instead of ... read more

I am still mesmerized by the performance of this group.I am floating on an Aerocloud. We went to Charlotte,NC to see them once again and I met some really great people there and saw another incredible performance by them.Cameras were allowed ,so we took tons of photos .But at one point during the performance I just handed off the camera to my husband and enjoyed the night and danced so much that I was actually sore the next morning!Enjoy some of the many photos that we took http://beta.photoshow.com/watch/Qr6Vw6rY.Lots were of Motley Crue who were okay...just not on my favorite list. Steven Tyler sang one song to his girlfriend and had her come out into the audience. It is called "Seasons of Wither" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzDuXuGg-Wo(this is a video that some one else made and shared from the concert) and I ... read more

June 4 - 22, 2006 Hot Springs, N.C. - Savannah, Ga. - Charleston, S.C. - Charlotte, N.C. Loop 10,856 miles to date 1,610 miles this leg NOTE: In addition to the updated Route Map, we've made revisions to the Proposed Route Map: for now, it includes Newfoundland! Four and a half months after leaving our Northwest home, we reached the Southeast apex of our round-the-country trip. We first saw the Atlantic on June 15 from the bridge to Tybee Island, Ga., where we spent some of the most magical days of our travels to date (read on!). Our odometer rolled over the 10,000-mile mark just before we reached the coast. And how are we feeling, nearly halfway into our 10-month on-the-road odyssey? Well, as you might expect, there are times when Jeff and I overdose on ... read more

Well I did it. It is gone. My hair is 10 inches shorter. I am not really sure how I feel about it. I feel like I killed it (and it does look dead, doesn't it). Didn't know this before I went in, but the place I found to get my hair cut was a children’s salon. It definitely caught me off guard; they had little trucks and motorcycles for the kids to sit in while they were getting their hair cut (luckily they had normal salon chairs in the back). It took me a while to decide how short to get it and I was thinking about going back to really short, but I just couldn't do it. So Shannon chopped off 10 inches and went from there. I think she layered my hair, I ... read more

I have never been really good at keeping this type of thing and I am not sure how often I will be able to keep it updated, but I figured I would get it a shot. So, for those of you who are planning to live vicariously through me, I hope you appreciate my efforts here. For those of you that don't know, I am going to work for a friend of mine in Europe (I met him while I was in New Zealand). The company he is starting is called g's Big Adventures and I will be a tour guide taking people on a 22 day train circuit. I don't know how long I will be doing this, but it will at least be through the summer. I will just have to see how it ... read more

Preparing to leave Charlotte has become quite interesting. I find myself staring at the same "closet" wondering how in the world I'm going to make this work. Of course, asking Adam is out. He's a boy. Boys don't have these problems. 2-3 pairs of pants (cords, jean, what-have-you), A few t-shirts, a couple of fleeces, socks, and boxers, it's all he'll need. Simple. I know I should follow the same list, but I have a lot of what if's. I think I'm doing ok. I have more clothes in the 'give away' pile than I have in the 'keep' pile, so thats good. I'm working on it!! So ANYWAY. Thats not all. I've rearranged the "kitchen" cabinets ten times, and the draws. I'll probably do it another ten times before we even leave Charlotte. Its ... read more

6:00 AM. I am up. I should be out by 6:45 to catch the bus that comes by about 6:50. No probelma. Shower, last minute packing (changed from duffel to backpack to duffel). Made sure that I packed the couple of Spanish phrase books and the tour guide to Yucatan.. Ready to go.. I looked out through the window. It is dark out there and it does look - mucho frio. Put the cap on and a jacket (what do I do with this Cancun).. As I walked out through the front door of the building, I saw the bus passing by. Raised by hand and waved at him... He did not stop. Damn it! Now, I have to wait for another 15 minutes in the freezing cold.. There I stood, with hands tucked under the ... read more
