Geo: 35.6915, -105.937It is always fun to explore Santa Fe by bicycle and be able to take in all the interesting architecture as you ride along. We do a great deal of volunteer work for WildEarth Guardians including delivering posters or flyers around the city.Laura's ankle slow healing and waiting for our "guest" bikes to be tuned up, this time we delivered posters for the Mountainfilm Tour by bus and foot. "Mountainfilm is dedicated to educating, inspiring and motivating audiences about issues that matter, cultures worth exploring, environments worth preserving, adventures worth pursuing and conversations worth sustaining." Thanks to the Santa Fe Bus system we were able to hop on and off the bus and make our way around the Railyard and Downtown area dropping off posters and enjoying the scenery as we went.... read more

Geo: 35.6915, -105.937Had a chance to go hear our friend Bob play again. Do enjoy his mandolin playing and of course his jokes as he goes along. Playing at a new venue, Duel which is a new brew pub in town and not in the Railyard and Canyon Road and Plaza area. Interesting place but still waiting on their permit to be able to serve wine.Nice evening.... read more

Geo: 35.6915, -105.937Chip announced in exercise class there was a Christmas Eve matinee at the Lensic. Decided to go enjoy some culture and rode the bus downtown. When we walked up to the ticket window to purchase tickets, a woman came up and said she had two tickets that were not going to be used and would we like them. Sure. Very enjoyable concert. Because it was a matinee, many people had brought children in hopes of introducing them to culture. Varying levels of success. Family next to us lasted about 30 minutes before having to exit. The most amazing part to us was the beginning music which had been written by an eleven year old and he and another young man performed the piece. Wow.After the concert we wandered through the plaza, watched a street musician ... read more

Geo: 35.687, -105.938We attended a Solstice Labyrinth celebration at the Genoveva Chavez center on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The Labyrinth Society of Santa Fe were responsible for this portable labyrinth. It basically was a path that had one way in to the center and then back out the same way. It was a time for reflection and quiet. There was nice background music as we walked. ... read more

Our Impressions of Santa Fe, New Mexico Santa Fe is located at 7000 feet above sea level on the southern edge of the Rocky Mountains and is the first truly beautiful small city that we have visited on this journey. It is one of the most important cities in the world for visual arts and contains over 250 art galleries and exhibition spaces. There are 300+ days of pure and bright sunshine per year, the light from which makes it an artists’ paradise. Georgia O’Keefe fell in love with the light here and lived in the area for over 40 years and was very productive and inspired. Santa Fe is the oldest capital city in the United States, founded in 1610 by Don Pedro de Poralta, and one of the buildings built that year, the Palace ... read more

Albuquerque & Madrid, New Mexico From Silver City we drove through slowly along the twisting route 152 through the scenic Mimbres Mountains and onto Interstate 25 heading north at Caballo. One of the town we passed by was called Truth or Consequences – what a great name for a town! But the drive though the mountain pass took us much longer than we had planned, sometimes we had to go 10 to 15 miles per hour, so we didn’t stop at Truth or Consequences and pushed northwards instead toward Albuquerque. We parked Rudy V on Central Avenue (aka Route 66) next to a small park halfway between the downtown and the old town. We walked first toward the downtown and our first stop was a wonderful consignment gallery of over 75 local and area artists called ... read more

Madam, sulphur or arsenic bath? Tues saw me headed north for a day out at the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs. Leaving the main road at Espanola heading another 25 miles alongside the Oriega Mountains turning just south of Abiquiqu following the canyon, I realised I was in Georgia O’Keefe country close to her home at Ghost Ranch. Once again the scenery of the blues and greys of the mountains visually stunning. There was very little traffic the last 20 or so miles but when I reached my destination I was surprised to find a well developed and busy complex consisting of wonderful Abode type hotel, grounds and the spa buildings themselves. Within the spa are 10 pools containing different combinations of the 4 types of mineral water that makes the springs so unique: lithia, iron, soda ... read more
