Imagine the bus trip from hell and you would be pretty close to our L.A to Las Vegas trip. From the start this trip went down hill, we got to the greyhound bus station in L.A nice and early (8am), so as to get to Vegas just after lunch. But the chick at the counter gave us the wrong tickets so then we had to wait till the 10 o'clock bus. This bus trip consisted of a bus with windows that don't open, air con that has to be turned off when the bus is not going down a hill, 3 big black chicks non stop yelling " I'm tellin you girlfrien you need to kick yo no good husband to the cerb"(you can imagine the hand actions). Then to top it all off there was ... read more

What a week we had in Las Vegas, it was all we imagined it to be - bright lights and expensive. After testing out all of the Casinos we decided that ours - Bellagio - was the best, pricey though. The Freemont Experience at Freemont Street was something else, would definately go back for the live bands and atmosphere, the lights show was special too. Lost some money, were expecting that though. Also went to the Stratosphere where there were some freaky rides right at the very top. We were also lucky enough to be at Las Vegas for the opening of Steve Wynn's Casino. Had a beer with him, ate some kangaroo and were on our way. Ha Ha. During our stay we went to Grand Canyon which was breathtaking - the pictures do not ... read more

Well what a town, or should we say "Light Show". We arrived in Vegas on the 5th of Feb. After we left San Diego we hit the freeway once again and made our way into Arizona. We stopped in a little town called Parker. There was an influx of people for a Desert Race and there was very little Accommodation. We managed to find a place and then checked out the local Casino. The sun rises and we hit the road yet again bound for a little town called Williams on the famous Route 66. We dropped our luggage off in our hotel and went strait to the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon's name justifies the site, we have seen pictures and video's, but you really have to be there to appreciate the full scale of ... read more

Hi all Sorry we haven't been in touch for a while - we had a few minor internet mishaps. Never mind, we're here now to give you the latest on our progress. Thursday was our trip to the Grand Canyon which was an early start but well worth it. We went to the West rim which isn't so touristy and was pretty quiet. The GC is amazing - you can't quite grasp what looking over the edge of a sheer cliff face into a 3.3km abyss until you've done it. Photos don't quite do it justice. We also saw the hoover dam and some Joshua trees - lots of them. In the evening we went on to The Strip with some people we met in the hostel (mostly Brits) and did a bit of gambling! We ... read more

Hello there! Well, we finally made it. Right now, we're knackered - have nearly been up for 24 hours and it's still only 6.30pm here. Flight was good, if a little long but we managed to get in three films and at least that many meals so can't complain too much. Sights as we landed were amazing - will post photos soon (still working on it!). Didn't quite make it to the strip - our hostel is slightly downtown of the main city. Just had a wander round the little arcade at the end of the road we're staying on and the neon was humming. Managed to book ourselves on a trip to the Grand Canyon tomorrow - looks great - so it's up at 7 for the bus. Yippee! Gotta go - we're off to ... read more

We flew from San Jose to Las Vegas, which was having a number of years of rain in just two days. It was pouring with rain, and the taxi driver asked us if we could swim, as he drove thru some well established puddles in the road! We checked into our hotel, Harrahs, and noticed the casino element of the hotel immediately - it was difficult to miss! I don’t know what I expected of Las Vegas, I didn’t really have any preconceived ideas. Having been there, it is loud, brash, unreal, but really well done. The hotels each have a theme, or a special feature. We walked up and down the ‘strip’ Las Vegas Boulevard with all the hotels on it. It was great. The striking features are the Paris hotel, complete with half size ... read more
