We shouldn't actually tell you anything because, after all, "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" This is an amazing town. We've had the full experience, we've seen MANY weddings, two Elvis impersonators and an array of the most fascinating people you can imagine. Everything is far further than it seems and we've walked more miles than we can count. We've visited Venice, Paris, New York, and the Far East without even leaving the Strip. The Bellagio fountain show is beautiful. The weather gods must know we are here because it was raining this morning. As Bobby said "it isn't supposed to rain in the desert!" On the positive side, luck has been kind to the gamblers. We won't be making mortgage payments with the winnings but Bob got a hot hand at the Craps table ... read more

Getting off the plane.. Slot Machines Everywhere...... Yes ...... In the airport terminal..... have a bit of a gamble while waiting for your plane!! So there are bright blinging lights everywhere in Las Vegas, even in the Airport. Most Airport's are out of town but the Las Vegas Airport is right near the strip. You can often see about 5 or more bright lights in a row in the sky - Planes lining up to land on the runway!! A couple of hours earlier we were at the St Louis Airport. This was the first Airport that we came across that had shoeshine stalls. It was very interesting to us and so we got a shoe shine. At first we were worried it would seem a little racist as all the shoe shiners were African American. ... read more

I see why they call that place sin city. It was a site to see, but we were right in only staying one day. We got to our hotel, which had one of the seedier casinos and went right down to the strip to start looking around. We walked four hours straight without even thinking about it and saw a little more than half the sites. Lots of casino's. Bellagio was the nicest, Caesar's palace was the flashiest and "New York" and the Venitian have recreated the cities they were named for inside, that was the most impressive. MGM has a real Tiger and the Bellagio has the biggest chocolate fountain in the world. I would have liked to dunk my head in it. However, it was clearly not a "family" place with lots of venues ... read more

Wow, has it really been ALMOST TWO WEEKS since my last blog???? So much has happened since the last time I wrote. We have been so busy with work and sightseeing that I literally haven't had time to sit and write. We are currently in Las Vegas and I have about an hour....so I will write as much as I can. After we checked out of the Hampton Inn hotel in Glenwood Springs, Colorado we decided to go to Aspen for lunch. Aspen is only 40 minutes north of Glenwood so it would've been a shame to miss it. The ride to Aspen was beautiful! Our first stop was at Snowmass Village which is geared more toward families. This alpine village was adorable and all I imagined it to be. We felt like we were in ... read more

Our first stop was the Valley of Fire in Nevada. Let me tell you, this place was definitely hot! The entire landscape was red and desert like. We did a short hike over to Mouse's Tank. An alleged Southern Paiute Indian renegade named "Little Mouse" hid out there in the 1890's. He was accused of gunning down two prospectors and many other crimes in the area. He was finally trapped in July 1897 but not in the Mouse's' Tank. He was caught a few miles away by the spring at what is today called the Muddy River. The official story is that he was surrounded, refused to give up and he was shot. In the afternoon, we drove to Las Vegas for some gambling and buffet eating :) I made the whole group head over to ... read more

After a flying visit to Sedona, we headed on to Vegas! I love Vegas, it is just so much fun... This time we stayed at the Paris hotel, so glad we stayed there it was fabulous. The Parisian style was so funny, there was a lovely pattiserie that did cakes to D D Die for! We also went to see Cirque De Soleil's "O" which was incredible, those acrobats are so talented, there moves were incredible. Really reccomend this show. We also went to the new Wynn hotel, it was so luxurious, I ate the most gorgeous strawberries dipped in white chocolate there... MMmmmmmmmm... Check out these pics:... read more

Sorry to those of you who either have heard and don't want to again, or to those of you I have not had the chance to tell in person yet...but it is true. Daren and I eloped to Las Vegas! Yes, it is kind of sudden and crazy, but over the past few months we were thinking that we should do it now so that immigration will not be a nailbiting, tense situation next year when her student visa runs out. This way we can decide to stay in the USA or leave on our own terms, and not because "The Man" thinks law-abiding citizens like ourselves should not be able to stay here We decided that getting married at the town hall was much too bland, so we opted for a trip to VEGAS and ... read more

My soul can find no staircase to heaven through a place like this . Bob Tait The older I grow, the more I distrust the familiar doctrine that age brings wisdom. --H. L. Mencken LINKS Valley of Fire TRAVEL TIPS May 30. Today is a day in Las Vegas. I haven’t been here since 1971, at that time we saw Elvis perform, not his impersonator. It is a town of glitz, sparkle and more glitz. We were in touch Joan and Jim, friends from the “Burg”, and we scheduled lunch at New York, New York. Early in the day we walked the strip and stopped at the Bellagio to see the water show. There is a lot of walking. Bob complained to many jewelry stores and not outdoor shops. I think he wanted Gucci Hiking ... read more

Ready for our second 'summer adventure', Linda and I headed for Henderson and Las Vegas for another long weekend of fun. Since it was a holiday weekend we decided to get a jump on things and so came in late Thursday night. We checked into the Boulder Station hotel, since we knew we'd just be sleeping there. The next morning we headed out to Henderson, where we stayed the next three nights at the beautiful Hyatt resort. It was pretty much a party weekend, in which we stayed out late every night, slept in, and then did some moderate sightseeing during the day. Friday night was dancing at Gilley's in the Frontier, Saturday night we went to New York, New York to see the late showing of 'Zumanity' (a very entertaining show) and then hung out ... read more
