Welcome to the Stone Family Blog 2015. In 2013, our family (Ed, Lisa, Allie and Tyler) traveled to England and then when the adults returned to America, Allie and Tyler traveled on their own to France, Switzerland and Belgium. Tyler (a sophomore at Saint Louis University) is spending this semester at SLU's European Campus in Madrid Spain. Still at work... My flights for Portugal leaves in: I just finished a long, full, productive day at work. Tomorrow I leave for a month in Europe! A nice long break, with some international studies goes a long way... I will be visiting Lisbon, and spending some time with friends there before moving onto Madrid (via night train) until May 29th. While in Madrid I will be taking IB596 - Case Studies in the European Union. This class satisifes a portion of my Master's requirements, in a fun way. I plan on using this blog as a way to track my thoughts while I travel, and also as a way to keep friends and family informed on where I am. As a quasi grad school graduation gift to Axel, Laurie decided to take him for an exciting day in St. Louis. We started the day by strolling through some of the cute downtown neighborhood and checking out the flooding situation near the Arch. Because of the massive amount of rain and flooding, the parking area on the levy by the St. Louis arch was completely under water. It really brought home the impact of this natural disaster and its effect on all of the local farmers and homes. The highlight of the day was the St. Louis City Museum http://www.citymuseum.org/home.asp . Housed in the 600,000 square-foot former International Shoe Company, the museum is an eclectic mixture of children's playground, funhouse, surrealistic pavilion, and architectural marvel made out of unique, found objects.
