We had doubts about staying at a county fairground, but the nearby bike trail and river were delightful! A local ranger stopped us on our six mile off-road vehicle trail ride to remind us that we needed to purchase a trail ride sticker for Michigan. The Thunder Bay Marine Heritage Center Museum highlighted shipwrecks in Thunder Bay. We joined Lois’ friend and husband at their church, Living Hope, on Sunday then traveled down Rt. 23 to their home right on Lake Huron. Along the way, we enjoyed a giant grilled cinnamon roll from Connie’s Café (yumm!!). Mike & Deb have a slice of heaven with a beach in their back yard and 10 acres of forest across the road.... read more

Geo: 45.1134, -83.5568Last night we arrived at Campers Cove in Alpena on Thunder Bay river which looks more like a lake. I chose an end site (last October) next to the fishing pond. It's a great site because it is huge and we only have someone on one side of us and it is opposite the side we hang out on.. Though, I must say that the people around us are so nice. We were clueless when we arrived. All the hookups are on the side of the other camper next to us where a kind elderly gentleman saw us in our time of need. He hobbled over (though he had a scooter for easier mobility) and asked if we needed help. Yes Please! His name is John. John knows everyone around us. Paul calls him ... read more

The return trip to Kalamazoo was basically a mirror image of last Friday besides a few memorable incidents which I can share here. Once again the first stop took far longer than expected. Pulling into Ossineke I noticed a man sitting in a rascal waiting to board. The driver spent ten minutes attempting to figure out how to move the seats out of the way, in order to provide access for the wheelchair lift. She eventually gave up and requested assistance. I volunteered and was able to figure out how to disengage the various seat locks. The driver required another ten minutes to get the man onto the bus. The joke arose when we got to that very same fast food joint in Oscoda that I love so much. The normal forty minute meal stop was ... read more

I’m currently sitting with Gus and Phil on the porch drinking coffee and looking over our draft results from yesterday. Apparently Yahoo graded my draft choices as a C+. I managed to pick Matt Ryan in the eighth round which was a steal but wasted my sixth round pick. I think that poor choice was due to either a bug in my ear or the delicious home brews. Either way I’d like to have that one back. We’re planning on a golf outing at Monarch Ridge today so hopefully I can grab some photos to share.... read more

Draft Day! I stayed up far too late chatting with my little brother so there’s no time for a jog. It’s already 10 AM so I’ll shower then walk into town, grab a quick bite then head over to Phil’s. Good luck to everyone. I drew the eighth pick in a twelve team which is less than great. I drafted eighth last year as well and managed to finish first so you never know.... read more
