Man, has this week gone by fast or what??! So I had a couple people come and look at the apartment today, 1 to sublet my room, and one to take over Megan's half of the lease. The guy who came to be my potential future roomie was completely sketch, I mean really sketch! He says he's a doctor who'll be doing work at a local hospital, but he just gave me the creeps...so the roommate search continues--unless of course Megan decides to stay, which would be amazing! The couple who came to look at subletting my room, on the other hand, were awesome. Really friendly and laid back, easy to talk to, and they seemed very genuine. I hope they decide to take it. I totally skipped out on outlining this weekend, although I got ... read more

So I got my passport yesterday after a really nice lady from the post office called to let me know it was there. Well, I only look slightly like a convicted felon...hopefully if I smile really nicely at customs, they'll still let me into Japan! Hahaha :) Today I'm going out with my friends Yoshi and Kazumi to help Yoshi find a good English school where he can study this summer. Although, I think his English is really good, and within a year or so (without any formal instruction) he should be speaking like a native. I also heard from my boss today, who is so nice and helping me so much in trying to get ready to leave for Japan. I have been working with his assistant, Keiko, to get my visa application submitted, and ... read more

Ok, well it seems posting on this blog must be good luck because today my passport came!! Unfortunately, I have to sign for it and it won't be available for pick up till tomorrow morning, which means Jenn gets to get up even earlier! *sigh* Oh well, who cares! I can finally put everything in motion to get my work visa...woot! :) In other news I had my oral arguments today, and, aside from getting completely tongue-tied the first 10 sec. or so I think I might have done ok. Some of the questions the judge asked were a little tricky, but aside from that I think I has a couple of good arguments in there. I'm just glad it's over with, honestly. This experience, however, did show me ALL of the mistakes I made in ... read more

So I heard from the homestay co-ordinater today and she says she has someone for me to stay with for most or all of my time in Gifu! All I can say is Baruch Hashem (Thank G-d) b/c otherwise I would have barely been able to survive! Now I can do a bit of travelling! Yay..Tokyo here I come! If I have the time and resources I also want to go to Okinawa, Kyoto and Osaka. But first I have to get my visa and passport settled! Also, back here in Boston, I have oral arguments I'm giving tomorrow and completely terrified! Gah!! This is why I have absolutely NO desire to become a trial lawyer...well one of the reasons I suppose...but man, arguing in front of a judge and hoping the other side doesnt make ... read more

Ok so I got an internship in Japan this summer working for an intellectual property firm there. I'm so excited and yet everything still feels like it hasn't fallen into place yet. I still need to find out if I'm living with a host family or staying in company housing, still in the process of applying for my visa, and still waiting for my passport to arrive (which it better since I spent $100 extra to pay for the expidited shipping!!!) But hopefully everything will be worked out by May 1st. On top of that I'm still trying to find someone to sublet my room and also waiting to see if my current roomate is planning on staying or going. Oh yeah, and final exams....law school final exams...うわーん, とてもむずかしですね!!!じゃ、I'll keep you updated!! Laters, 奈々子 ... read more
