When I go abroad, one of my main expectations has to do with how people are going to treat me and welcome me into their country. The fact that Argentina is a Latin country made me think that its people would be very friendly and welcoming because of Latin nations’ well known reputation as being very warm and affective; however, I was surprised to experience the complete opposite in Buenos Aires. I would not generalize but I must admit that a good amount of Argentines or Portenos are not that friendly or helpful towards foreigners and tourists. Whenever they notice that a person does not speak Spanish and has a different accent, many of them tend to become very impatient. This behavior becomes more evident at restaurants where, I think, the service needs to be outstanding. ... read more

Our wedding was FANTASTIC. FABULOUS. PERFECT. It was everything we'd hoped for and more- and we are so thankful for all the help and support from our wonderful families and friends. Here are a few photos from the day. . . these are travel related because. . . we're honeymooning in France! A week in Paris and a week in Nice (with a stop in Avignon on the way). So, I'll put up some photos soon of the places we are staying and things we want to see, and we can compare later with the photos that we take! Cheers! Katie Cofield --- now that's cool. . .... read more

So it's a little past midnight on Saturday, August 17th and I'm wide awake just thinking about my upcoming departure from the states. My confirmation on nwa.com says 22 days til departure so I will be leaving soon : ( This past Thursday I went to the Japanese Consulate in Buckhead to apply for my visa which I have to pick up tomorrow, and this past Friday was my last day of work at Bank of America in Midtown. It was quite sad to end my year at Bank of America but I will hopefully be back next year upon my return to the states. After work on Friday some of my co-workers went out to Ten Pen Alley in Atlantic Station for some drinks and bowling. I had lots of fun as you can see from ... read more

Hi Guys Well we were lucky enough to be in Atlanta for the 4th July fireworks at Centennial Park. AND we were lucky enough to meet a great bunch of guys and girls who spent the entire weekend showing us around and taking us out! What luxury! They took us to an expensive shopping mall to try on Gucci clothes and $30,000 watches then took us out to dinner, aquarium and the Westin Revolving Tower for a 360 view of the city. How lovely jubbly! We're now in DC for our last couple of days, so see you very soon! Love Bex... read more

Hello Friends, We are starting to get ready for our African Adventure and doing a test of this travel blog thingy. I will set it up first by listing the cast of characters as well as some initial plotlines and then add an itinerary. Cast of Characters: Dan I have been to South Africa (SA from now on) several times and loved it. This time I am armed with some real camera gear and about 30 lbs less body weight to drag through the bush. I am hoping this combo will result in teriffic photos and less huffing and puffing. I am most looking forward to roaming around Rooi Eils where my Mom has a home on the sea, hitting the wine country in the area, visiting Capetown -- the most beautiful city in the world, ... read more

Well, I am down to my last two days of work. Kind of a bittersweet end. Today is my last with Grace in the office. I will miss working with her. She has it under control!!! And it is time for me to move on to other things. Going to do some home improvement on "Rock Stars" sunroom next week. Then tear down an old pole barn at the farm the next two weeks as I get my last few things organized before the motorcycle adventure begins... So, till next time...Peace Esteban... read more

Finally, after 6+ months of planning and organizing, we’re about to embark our backpacking journey to South America. The fun part of trip planning is over, replaced by the fact that it is time to do it all, as said and planned. Tomorrow, my roommate Ryan and I will be going abroad again. Waiting for my Argentina visa was nerve wrecking, but after three months of anticipation, finally my Argentine visa is approved at the last minute. So the good news is that I am in possession of three visas (Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil), and an approved one to be picked up at the Embassy of Uruguay once we arrive in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Now for sure, we are switching back to plan A: Argentina/Uruguay instead of plan B: Chile/Paraguay. Familiar tingling feelings of joy, excitement, ... read more

A day before Halloween - and nothing is happening at our place. True, in a sense that our place becomes deserted and fits the theme of a graveyard of Halloween. Happy with the situation, I finally find some time to compile my past journals in this fabulous travelblog.org. I have been busy with the entries for several days now, when I realized that I haven't have much to say about Atlanta, Georgia, where I live. Work Work is very interesting; a lot of stuff is going on, with many projects and datelines scattered all around us. With 150+ employees, we still need many architects, as Atlanta is building everywhere. disclaimer. you can skip the following paragraph, as I will mention things that probably won't make sense to anyone. Some updates on projects I have been working ... read more
