Disney World offers such fabulous resorts. We've learned to always plan a "resort day" when we go to Disney World. This is a day where we get to recover a bit from all the walking (I hit over 28,000 steps yesterday!), and we can also enjoy our resort amenities. For Joanna, this meant we did a lot of swimming today! We're staying in the Little Mermaid rooms at Art of Animation, and this section has its own pool. It's smaller than The Big Blue Pool in the center of the resort. We've spent time swimming in the Little Mermaid pool already, so, this morning, after breakfast, we decided to check out The Big Blue Pool. In January 2020, just before the pandemic hit, my friends and I began planning a girls' weekend at Disney World for October. It was going to be us and our daughters. I was so excited for that trip, but then came COVID-19.... ...No one knew how long the pandemic would last. So, we kept our trip booked until the last day for almost-free cancelations. Disney allows people to cancel up to 30 days before a trip, and you get a full refund on your room or package. Unfortunately, we didn't purchase a package. We bought our tickets separately, and those were non-refundable. Disney extended the expiration date by nearly a year, and our tickets are set to expire in September 2021. Central Florida—land of palm trees, cool breezes, and 5 short rainstorms every afternoon. Also home to the most theme parks in the world. On Saturday, I saw several palm trees, enjoyed the cool breezes, and only endured 2 of those rainstorms. And my faithful readers will be happy to know that I successfully avoided all the theme parks. In these Covid times, only one thing gets me to travel: college football. Yeah, I know I’m weird. But as long as it’s outdoors, and I’ve got my mask, and other people are being at least somewhat responsible with distancing and mask-wearing, I don’t feel too bad. We have been a bit too busy to blog so will summarise it here.... Day 4, lots of shopping. Daddy went nuts and brought heaps. It was like mummy and daddy had switched bodies. I also got some cool new shoes, BB9, a lightsaber and got to have yummy chicken nuggets twice. At night Aunty Tarn and I went to Disney Springs and I found a shop that has a cup cake atm outside. Put the money in and get your choice of cupcake back. Awesome!! Day 5, Halloween party at Magic Kingdom. The most people I have seen in my life. Today we went on a ride called dinosaur and it was amazing. On the ride you can see dinosaurs like carnotaurus and they appear to come right at you. For me this the most terrifying ride in animal kingdom. And yes, I went on it again straight away. ... read more
