On Sunday, Evan finally got the boat going. He had been to a different boat shop about an hour away from his place. To get some parts he needed, They also had knee boards on special , so he bought one of those too. Sure enough it went good as gold, I took Evan for a ski, then we tried out the kneeboard.awesome. Josh and I had a ski , then Evan blew up the ski biscuit thing. Everyone had a bit of fun on that, as its so stable to lie on. We ran out of gas so we pulled into one of the many marina's along the lake. We just pulled into a wharf, this guy asked do you want some gas, he fills it up, we went and got some ice creams from the ... read more

We got the RV ready for storage at New Episode Thoroughbred Training Farm in Ocala. We found we had two Black Angus steers grazing inside a fence next to where the RV will stay. We enjoyed a nice meal at the Horse & Hounds and turned in early. Wes took the pictures at the morning work out for Royal Vagabond, a two year old we have an interest in with a few other friends and relatives. We took off in the Jeep for Tampa by late morning. ... read more

We were on our way to Ocala from Crystal River and stopped in at Rainbow River State Park. Our timing was perfect - we hit the peak of azalia season in this part of Florida. Like other Florida State Parks, this started out as a "theme park" type attraction. It was "Gaudy Florida" said the engaging volunteer we talked to. It had glass bottom boats, man made waterfalls, a skyway tram shaped like two leaves, an aviay, wild animals, etc. It fell into disuse as so many theme park properties did when the Disney empire began its growth and when I-75 took visitors away from state highways. To their enormous credit, local folks protested to save Rainbow Springs from condo development and the State of Florida purchased it, and continues to put a great deal into ... read more

Farewell to The Villages... North America » United States » Florida » Ocala By Alison BelleJuly 12th 2007Alison Marie Gavin Somehow, the time has come. Yep, I am leaving for Taiwan TODAY!!! My stomach is filled with butterflies. I don't think I've ever felt such excitement and nervousness at the same time. On the other hand, I have this sense of calm surrounding me - a peaceful feeling telling me that I am doing what I need to do. How can I know that I will be happy in Taiwan? I'm not sure. Perhaps it is what I need to tell myself right now. I don't know.... read more

Okay, so I'm cheating by using the blog I already posted on My Space. I am not feeling creative today, plus many of you haven't read this yet :-) Enjoy.... I finally bought my plane ticket to Taiwan! Yes, that means I accepted a job offer! I will be teaching preschool (3 & 4-year-olds) in the 4th largest city - Tainan. My job begins on August 4th, but I'll be headed there early to settle in, get an apartment, get over the jet-lag, & explore the city.... How am I feeling, you might ask. As you can imagine, I feel as if every feeling I could possibly have is flowing through me! Of course, the two most prevalent feelings seem to be "excited" and "scared-out-of-my-mind." I have been planning this since January, but now it is ... read more

March 27. Landed in Tampa and headed for Ocala. The wild flowers are in bloom and the trees are in leaf. The Schooner did well in storage at New Episode (thoroughred training center)- not even a fly. The horses in the nearby pastures are beautiful. We got groceries and settled in. Had a nice dinner at Horse & Hound with our niece and nephew (Kate .and Mike) who were both there for the Ocala Breeders 2 Year Old Sales. Wes watched BQ1 work out on Thursday morning; he's impressed with her progress. Battle Ready isn't training this week due to a small cut. We joined Kate and Mike at the sales for lunch. We learned a lot about 2 year olds just hanging out with Kate and Mike following them around. The Ocala auction facilities ... read more
