When I woke the sky was the deepest blue already. The sun was up and promising to heat up the earth very quickly. The makings for a hot one.
Our morning routine was great, I even had my 2nd coffee outside along with my cereal. Oscar was laying in the sun and when he saw my shoes going on he got all excited. We had to walk early because it was going to heat up to 85 today.
As we went down the road Oscar was already seeking out the shade of every tree and bush. Poor guy cursed with black fur. I shortened the planned route, but found the trail head I was looking for and went to the marina again to see what was happening. At the swimming area I met a couple from Delaware on bikes that asked me if I thought their dog could swim on the beach area. I asked them if they liked their dog it wouldn’t be a good idea as they could be an alligators lunch. Their reaction to the “swimming area” was the same as mine, but go figure, it must have been in the plan for the park.
We talked
for a while then went on our way. Oscar and I hiked a more shady trail back to the camper where he proceeded to go under Pennelope and have a nap. I got out my chair and some cards to send that I was going to write out but the couple from Delaware came to visit. We enjoyed each others company and they stayed about an hour. They are camping in an airstream trailer at the other campground in the park about 4 miles away. Yes, it’s a huge park.
After addressing my mail I got dressed, had lunch and went to the post office. I found it!
The I went to find the beach that I have been hearing about. It wasn’t far and the road there was beautiful with the banyon trees acting as a canopy. I found the beach AND a parking place and went to put my toes in the sand. The sand was darker than the gulf sand but very soft. The wind was blowing like crazy so there were lots of waves and blowing sand. A man was feeding the seagulls so I stayed far away from him.
More shells were collected and pictures
taken and I headed home to feed Oscar and relax.
There is a railroad crossing in the middle of the park and yes, I caught a train on my way home. I’ve only heard them at night, first one I have seen.
I settled in my chair to read my book and the wind started to really blow hard so I put down the awning not wanting a repeat of last year that required getting new brackets and a nice repair bill.
Back in the chair, just getting into the meat of excitement in my book and it started to spatter rain. That did it. Put away the chairs, close everything up and get inside.
By then it was dinner time, I’ll have to read later.
Now it’s pouring rain and is supposed to most of the night but clear early in the morning. If it’s still raining tomorrow I’ll go to the rv show here in town.
