This is just a short update. We had another good day with many of the same activities as yesterday. We had breakfast at the Cracker Barrel again, and pretty much had the same meal. We ran a couple of errands on the way to the ballpark today, but we got to the stadium in plenty of time. We saw the Cardinals win again – this time 6-3 against the Astros. Today Janet had nachos and David had a brat – don’t know what the Sieberts had for their lunch. We saw some of the players we had wanted to watch so that was good. The high today was about 82 degrees, but there was a breeze blowing on-and-off. There was no rain but there were occasional clouds passing overhead making pleasant shade part of the time. ... read more

Today is our first Cardinal baseball pre-season game. The stadium is in what is known as Jupiter Florida but we actually stayed in West Palm Beach last night. The hotel is a Red Roof Inn Plus. It is not particularly fancy, but it is quiet and we had a good night’s sleep. We got up about 8:00 and went next door about 9:00 to the Cracker Barrel Restaurant for breakfast. We eat in one of these restaurants about once a month, but this was pretty much the first time for the Sieberts. The food was good, and we all got plenty to eat. Then we had a little time in our rooms before we left for the stadium at 11:00. The drive is only a short distance up the highway. Janet and Kathy were able to ... read more

An enthusiastic air surrounded us as we jumped aboard our black buggy. Buckle up, everyone. Tuesday, we got up early (for me) and journeyed to Jupiter, Florida. Taking the Florida Turnpike made it a straight shot south. Our dear friend, Joe Edgley, and his wonderful family live in Jupiter. Joe and Lill moved here from Wellsville 30+ years ago. Where has the time gone? Joe took a golden handshake from Air Preheater where both he and Cory worked. It was a good decision and the right choice for them but it put so many, too many miles between us for all these years. We've missed all the crazy, fun times we had together. Thankfully, we have kept those memories active by on-going reminiscing. I could write some very interesting blogs about those wild and fun times ... read more

It was a warm start to the day. The temp was 80 at 9:30 in the morning. Oscar and I went for an early walk then I sat and read my book for a while to keep him company then off to the beach I went. I decided to go to the Jupiter Public beach and see how that looked this year. It was gorgeous. The water was SO blue, the air so clear, and the breeze just right. I found myself a spot and settled in to snap a few pictures. That didn't last long, there were shells to be had. The tide was coming in, almost high tide, and it brought a bounty. Before I knew it there was a bag full and I limited what I got after that to just special ones. ... read more

A three hour jaunt and we were in beautiful Jupiter, Florida. Our good friend, Joe Edgley and his family, live here. Lill, Joe's wife and my dear friend, passed away one year ago on April 15th. She is missed deeply by all. Her silent presence was felt throughout but her absence was apparent. It was so nice to see Joe again. And adding to the delight was his son, John, who joined us at our favorite café: French Connection...now known as Cathy's Beach Connection. This was the first restaurant that Lill & Joe took us several years ago. It made a lasting impression on us with it's simple outdoor, relaxing atmosphere. Their grouper dinner is scrumptious. That is what we ordered this time, also. Consistently perfect. If in the area, make sure you go here! Lulu ... read more

Tues., Feb. 18, we decided to take a walk at Jupiter Ridge Natural Area trail. This is a little nature area and the first trail we saw was concrete with sand all around that looked like snow (see picture). The concrete soon turned to an all sand path that was a little difficult to walk on so we headed back fairly soon. One interesting part of this hike, however, was seeing an artist with her easel painting the very landscape that we were seeing. Monday, we had stopped at the River Center in Burt Reynolds Park, but it was closed, so we went back on Tuesday to check it out. It turned out to be a nice little aquarium that was geared more for children. The exhibits were interesting, but not explained well. There were no ... read more

My sister Denise arrived today to get out of the cold of NJ. She arrived on the evening flight so all we did the first day was go out for dinner and catch up. We found a wonderful Italian place with seating outside and even after dark it was warm enough to enjoy the beautiful air. The next day we spent at the beach. The sky was a deep blue and there was a light breeze that made it perfect. We brought lunch with us so no need to move from the sand. I took some bird pictures, Dee knitted and we kept up our steady chatter. That night on the way home we spotted an eagle nest but the lighting was terrible so I vowed to try another day for that perfect shot. The followind ... read more

We didn’t get under way any faster than yesterday. For our walk this morning I thought I’d treat Oscar to a different view so we drove to the Hobe Sound National Wildlife Center and take one of their trails. By the time we got going it was already starting to heat up so we went on the shady trail to the river between the main land and Jupiter Island. The path was winding through the jungle and opened up onto this beautiful beach. Picture. The sand was like powder and there were these beautiful boats going up and down the river. I took some pictures of the houses over on Jupiter Island to show the mansions that they are. These belong to the millionaires, the billionaires have their houses on the ocean. It didn’t take long ... read more

It was a slow start to the day. I didn’t get up til after 8 and the am routine was sluggish too. I caught up on some phone calls then decided to take Oscar for his morning walk to the river store for some milk so I could have cereal for breakfast. We had a great walk through the forest and on the way spotted this tree that is just clinging to the earth. It is so eroded, there can’t be much holding it up. Picture No milk in the store so plan B was in order for breakfast. I talked to some people on the way home and decided to go to the beach and explore Jupiter Island. It was a beautiful day and getting hotter by the minute so the beach it was to ... read more

We spent the past week at Cary's house in Boynton Beach. A great big thank you to Cary (and, of course, Doodles, AKA "The Dude") for giving us the opportunity to stay put for awhile and just "chill." It was great to sit outside in the morning with a cup of coffee and listen to the birds sing and know that we had absolutely nothing that we HAD to do. We did go back to Green Cay and the Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge to walk and enjoy the beautiful weather and the wonderful Florida flora and fauna and we stopped at Bedners Farmstand by Loxahatchee to buy some fruit and vegetables. We cooked in a couple nights and we also went out with Cary and Jeffrey before Jeffrey had to fly back to New York. On one ... read more
