Start: Malibu Ziel: Venice Beach Tageskilometer: 31.5, Höchstgeschwindigkeit: 59.8, Gesamtkilometer:7'259.2. So fahren wir denn im dichten Verkehr an all... read more

Geo: 33.989, -118.462So today we get rid of this bloody uncomfortable car and check into hotel near lax airport. The plan is to then go to Venice beach and soak up some vibes of the weird and wonderful place to hotel in 40 minutes and hotel checked us in 3 hours earlier which was handy otherwise we'd have to hang around for hours. Well pleased.ok Venice was worth the visit but only for 20 minutes, what a lot of crap on sale that you'd never want and alot of talentless entertainers trying to make a buck. Good on em but not at all pleasant on the ears or eyes.eye candy was limited and Jenny Craig could make a fortune here.very hot 39c day but much cooler away from city and mountains. More pics to follow ... read more

Geo: 33.989, -118.462Message for Sheila. Enjoying your travel emails but cannot respond for some reason. Xxxon a separate note. Why do some toilets in America have a urinal and 1 normal toilet with no door? Mmmm, just not my thing seeing someone having a number 2 whilst having a number 1. Ewww!another thing. Getting a cab here is hell compared to Perth. They have 10!... read more

AKA The Birthday that Started at the Spa and Ended with a Sprain I decided this year to mark a big birthday, all I wanted was a place near a beach where I could celebrate with friends and lots of food. Since two of my best friends (Dan and Ilya) live in Los Angeles, and I happen to really love sunshine, a weekend jaunt down the coast sounded perfect. After a great Virgin America flight, I kicked off my birthday weekend in style-- by using a Travelzoo local deal for a massage and mani/pedi at Spa Luce at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel. I had never been to Spa Luce before, but I will definitely go back. The space was relaxing, with lots of white/natural decor and plush seating. My massage therapist was great-- not timid about ... read more

Geo: 33.989, -118.462We headed to Venice Beach to see the street performers and to look at the vendors. I hadnt been down in that area for almost 10 years. Lots more vendors selling junk being passed as art work. Lots of medical Marijuana shacks! Watched some men jump groups of people. We grabbed breakfast/lunch at the sidewalk cafe. The waiter stated that he had served Amy Winehouse, who had died just that morning, just over a month ago. Afterwards we headed back to the car and went to the Getty Villa.... read more

This morning we hired bikes from our hostel for $10 for the whole day, and we headed off at 11am on the Hermosa Beach Bike Trail. The trail went for 15 miles all the way through Venice Beach, up to Santa Monica, and then 15 miles back again. Some of the ride is on the road, but most of it is a path that goes through the sand so you ride alongside the water. It was another perfect day weatherwise, and we took our time getting to Venice Beach. Once we were there we locked the bikes up and had a wander around. Everyone in ... read more

We started the day with another breakfast at the Hotel. We checked out and drove to Santa Monica in order to be close to the Airport and see some work folks that I hadn't seen in awhile. I dropped the girls off on the Third Street Promenade and met my boss at the Coffee Bean. After some coffee and chatting we walked a bit on the Third Street Promenade and eventually met the girls who were down on at the Pier. We walked on the Boardwalk for awhile, enjoying the final rays of sunshine and even stopped for some ice cream. With a few hours before our flight we drove to LAX and dropped off the rental car. The rental car company had a handy shuttle that took folks from the car rental lot to the ... read more
