It was my 29th birthday, Sunday 16th April. My flight from Mexico City to San Francisco took around 5 hours, and I arrived at 7pm. I checked in to the hotel, and got unpacked. I decided to go out to get some water from a grocery store, and as I was crossing the road, I was knocked over by a speeding taxi. Was taken to hospital by ambulance and was in the emergency ward for 5 hours. Luckily I escaped with cuts and many bruises, but was not serious. All on my birthday. The next day I did a tour of the City, saw the fabulous Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz prison, despite being in pain!!... read more

So last leg of the trip here we go! We touched down at LAX (where there was lots of peolple with guns!) and met Jenn (who we met in Thailand) there who then took us back to her place. It wasn't exactly in LA, just outside up some mountains in the San Bernardino area calle Running Springs. The drive up there was pretty scarey because as we got higher and higher, it got foggier and foggier and couldn't see the road in front which didn't make us feel good with the 7000ft drop next to us!! We arrived at Jenns house to a couple of inches of snow! We were both in shorts and flip-flops as we'd just been in 35 degrees celcius, it shocked us a little now we were in 35 degrees farinhieght!! It ... read more

Okay, the last run for the year at Heavenly has been made and our mugs retrieved from the Cal Bar. Everything we are taking has been carefully packed and is ready to go. Daffy has been given her last headrubs, from us, till June. The plane is fueled, warmed up and ready for us to get aboard. We are ready to see what happens. Next stop will be in Chamonix. We will find a place to log on and post some pictures of what is supposed to be an epic year there. ... read more

So we arrived back home late last night.. had a great trip, but it's also great to be back home. More on that later.. But we've been meaning for a while now to answer some of your questions, so now that we have unlimited internet access, felt we should tackle them first: Renjith, yes, we went to the Louvre and saw the Mona Lisa. However, it is really not that impressive, particularly compared to the painting they have directly opposite - a huge wall-sized painting by Veronese that is really breathtaking. It's the 'marriage at cana', look it up on the Net. We spent quite a while looking at that and ended up just glancing at Mona Lisa just because it was there.. some of the other paintings in the Louvre were also quite impressive. Unfortunately, ... read more

Endelig!

We arrived in San Fran on friday and it was chucking it down. But we weren't going to let a bit of water stop the fun and games. We found our Hostel which is very nice, pretty basic rooms but what more do you need than a bed and a bathroom? The first night was great, me, Lisa and Frankie went for some food and found a bar where Andy and Mel could meet us. When they arrived it was catch up time, we haven't seen them for nearly a year so we had plenty to talk about. Talk turned to the coming weeks it was then I realised how lucky I am, this trip is gonna be sweet! Our first full day in San Fran and the weather had cleared up, we walked down to ... read more

Hi, I thought it's about time I finished up with our Californian Adventure and manage to move on to some other more interesting parts of the US but this journal entry will just be short to cap off a few things we did before we made the journey east towards Utah and Colorado which is where we're at now... Colorado until Friday actually and then a weekend in Vegas which im sure will be beyond interesting (non sarcasm!) ... it'll be a blast. Last Journal ended up with us being at the Hostel for our 2nd visit there, the reason we went was for a bit of social activity with people our age and also because we wanted to go on a camping trip to Yosemite national park, however we realised when we got there that ... read more

'If you're going to San Francisco...' Okay.... so after a gruelling ten hour flight, feeling hung over (still), the excitment kicked in, our travelling escapade beginns..proper mind! San Francisco is a vibrant city, block after block of cafes, trendy sushi bars, jazz/blues joints, funky restaurants, a massive gay/lesbo society, strip clubs, fast food (everywhere), and Amercians! On fist impressions we like this place! Our hostel is called Green Tortiose and is situated right in the red light zone..oh yes..start as we mean to go on! It's a crazy place, with a massive common room/bar/LOUD music and wierd people!! Many of the other travellers were Amercian, they also thought that San Fran is possibly the coolest place in America! Round the corner is China town..with the biggest Chinese population in the US, cheap grub, bustling streets, definately ... read more

I can't believe how wonderful we are! Our mothers will be brimming with pride! We had a day of being healthy, organisey and some more healthy and then a little helpful, and failed to indulge in anything morally questionable, other than possibly Doritos...that orange dye can't be ethically sound. We started off by getting up only quarter of an hour or so after our alarm this morning, the constant and unwavering bagel was again our breakfast companion. Although Juliet had marmalade instead of jam on hers today in a bid for extra vitamin C, bravo! Jenny, after drinking lots of water and putting some warm socks on, decided for her continued good health she should take some beauty sleep to deter the oncoming signs of a cold. Not before taking a multivitamin though (and that's no ... read more
