Kate: So we headed back to San Fran for our second visit and it was a long old journey down- 6 hours + with the car making some really weird rumbling noises! OIt ws defintely worth it though. There was still so uch for us to explore so we were both relieved to back............. on our first evening we went out for an amazing fish dinner,, right by the water front- lush. We both had shrim and crab cocktail to start and steve had shark for main (another animal to tick off the eaten list!) Day 2 i am sad to say we had to go and swap our hire car- it was well and truely dead! luckily for us though it was exchanged for a bigger and much cooler golden salon which we are well ... read more

Sunday, March 9th We went to Starbucks for a coffee and tea, and had a quick walk around before catching a tram to the Ferry Terminal. We had decided earlier to catch a ferry to Sausalito, for lunch. The trip over was great, going past Alcatraz and seeing seals in the bay. At Sausalito we walked around the shops, and many tourists hired bicycles and were walking around in the sun. Most of the restaurants had no outdoor eating areas, but we eventually found a fish and chip shop with tables on the sidewalk. Jeff ordered our lunch while I went to a wine shop and bought a Sauvignon Blanc from the Napa Valley. We enjoyed our lunch, and later caught the ferry back to San Francisco, and then transferred to the train to Berkeley, on ... read more

Hey Guys, We got to San Francisco yesterday and and have been exploring the city ever since. It is truly a city of neighborhoods. We loved some of them and hated others. The weather has been beautiful and we are both glad to wear flip flops again. Last night we had a good dinner at the bar at a restaurant called A 16 (named after the highway in Italy) where the bartender helped us find some really good wines. Today we are touring the Academy of Art University and picking up our plane tickets for the rest of our trip. Hope everyone is doing well.... read more

San Francisco is such a fun city! I got in late Thursday night, and my cousin Rachel and her boyfriend Darren picked me up. It was a long day of flying, I actually started in Flint, Michigan because it was much cheaper to fly from there. I had a $300 voucher from when I got bumped back in March. I thought it was going to cover a one way ticket from Detroit to San Francisco, but it didn't. It would have cost me my voucher PLUS another $320! So I played around and found a ticket that went Flint -- Detroit -- San Francisco for only $211. I don't like flying, but it was a no brainier. I even had enough money left in my voucher to buy a day pass to the Northwest World Perks ... read more

Two days to cross the Nevada desert on the way to Lake Tahoe California. An interesting camp stop at an oasis camp ground and a quick stop off at the Craters of the moon National Park. Lava rock and caves (Lanzerote with knobs on). Two nights camping at Tahoe City on the lake shore and rising anticipation for our coming weeks holiday. We are not after sympathy but 7 weeks under canvas with all the associated adventure can be quite taxing. My deprevation theory (see earlier entry) was in overdrive. Friday arrived we had arranged to meet a group of Brit friends ( 8 in total ). Our first weekend we had rented a house in Tahoe, the house exceeded all our expectation, massive rooms, library, widescreen TV ...etc. There was the inevitable scramble for rooms ... read more

Just got San Francisco. This is the first time i've had chance to put any updates on as the schedule has been so hectic. Managed to lose my itinerary today so before i can check into the hostel i've had to print all my travel vouchers off again. I'll put some more updates and photos on over the next few days as i'm not planning on doing to much running around over the next few days. So far i've done most of the major sites in New York, spent a bit of time on the strip in Vegas, been to the Hoover Dam and the Grand Ganyon. Hope eberyone is ok. Update again soon. I went to this terrific spot this morning to view the Golden Gate Bridge, but the fog was in the way. It made me sleepy. It is so thick it mists you. Today went by fast. I had a great Tango Lesson, then walked around up some steep streets with lots of steps (but not as many as the 600 rock ones that I went up in Yosemite, I read that there were 600). I ate a delicious Chinese meal but it was twice as expensive as in LA at the originally named "ChinaTown Restaurant". I will miss the food in San Francisco and the cool views and homes. I also like the roads with the steep grades (I am not sure if my cars brakes like them. I did see “Lombard Street from the ... read more

I went to the free Milonga that opened Nora's Tango Week here is San Francisco last night. We got there at about 7pm and stayed until it ended at Midnight. Some people we recognized from Southern California. Lots of nice people and good dancing. There were shoes for there and I finally gave in and purchases a pair with a heel that is a higher (plus they were so pretty!!!!). After about 2 hours of dancing in them, my feet did ache a bit (I don't think one is supposed to break them in at a Milonga). They will take some getting used to but I danced fine in them. Fear overcome....thanks Michele! ... read more

The tastes San Francisco North America » United States » California » San Francisco » Pacifica By RayeRayeJune 28th 2007 Some say I do not eat that often, and this is true. One of the places I enjoy eating at is in San Francisco. It just has the tastiest, most interesting cuisine and if you delve into a hole in the wall somewhere you just might find and inexpensive gem. Yesterday I did and it was Yummy!!! They had a chalkboard menu with tea and cakes. Off the menu I ordered homemade mac and ... read more
