I have just gone through the last of our photos from Las Vegas and found some of the foyer at The Venetian, hope you like them as much as we liked staying there. I have also included photos of Vicki's birthday card from me and some souvenirs, including Vicki's new Vegas Princess coffee cup. After a really nice light breakfast at our guesthouse we caught the "muni" to downtown San Francisco, the city bus network. Once again we were impressed with the efficiency and ease of use of the transport system in the states. There are so many lessons we could learn from the Americans including how to build roads and transport systems that simply work through to how to politely service customers and make them feel special. Yay we have arrived, after leaving Monterey we went towards a National park as I wanted to look at the 'Big trees' also called into Santa Cruz for breakfast, a town where nothing opens till 10am, even had to wake up the motel receptionist to check out this morning!! ( I didn't think 8am was that early!!) Was so excited to arrive in San Fran, that we opened our Lansons bubbly to celebrate our wedding anniversary, then caught the tube in to town. I cannot believe the hills here, steep they are unbelievable! Haven't seen the Golden Gate Bridge yet, but have spied Alcatraz from afar, visiting there on Sunday, also rode on a cable car then went to Chinatown for something to eat (only apt really considering 10 years ago we were actually in China) ... read more

Here it is our last day in "sunny" San Francisco. It has been cold and foggy most of the time we are here. Especially where we are parked. We drove into the city early today to take care of our grandchildren while Jason goes to work. I did boring laundry, which really needed to be done and Gerry took the boys for a "short" walk with the dog. The pictures of the artwork was along the walk in downtown SF. Three hours later, Jason comes home from work and no kids or Grandpa. I was getting worried, but not too bad but I didn't have the phone and Jason doesn't have a land line. Our journey home took us to San Francisco last Thursday, 19 May. We continued to have sunny weather, but here it was consistently windy, especially of an afternoon. With temperatures in the mid teens it was probably our chilliest city so far. The panorama above has been shortened to 90 degrees from the 'Gate' & Jan to San Francisco waterfront on the right. We stayed at the Raddison at Fisherman's Wharf - a very comfortable room with some water views from the balcony. But the big plus was being there at 'The Wharf' - so many good places to eat - great walks in both directions - entertainment in the streets - starting point for Red Bus tours - perfect. We arrived here Sunday. We are camped right on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The last couple of nights we spent visiting our dear friends Jack and Yolanda. It si always great to see them and see what new projects Jack has up his sleeves. Today we headed into San Fransisco for an entire day of sightseeing. It was a perfect day, perfect weather, not too cool and clear skies. It wasn't crowded which was nice. We have been to San Fransisco before and had seen most of the popular sights. So, I just wanted to ride around and see the neighborhoods .We rode the BART, electric bus, and cable cars. We went to Chinatown and the old Ferry Building.
