Bekki bought our youngest grandson, 4-year-old Jasper to Sun River and the plan was that we’d take him on a very short Grandkid trip. He gets quite wild with other kids so we thought it was best to just take him by himself. He’d decided that we would go to every ice cream shop in the world. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time for that. We left Saturday morning and drove, in one very long day, to San Francisco. Unfortunately, RV parks in San Francisco are not plentiful. We have stayed at the RV park at Candlestick Park when it was actually the baseball park. Now the ballpark is mostly dismantled but the RV park is still there. The RV park was jam-packed with RV’s and getting into our space, in the dark, was most difficult. Fortunately, ... read more

Päivän ohjelmassa oli Golden Gate Park & Golden Gate Bridge, eli kaupungin suurin puisto ja kuuluisin silta. Päivälle oli ennustettu lämmintä peräti 28 astetta. Heräsin klo 9.30. Huoneesta pääsin liikkeelle klo 12. Matkustin ensin länteen linjalla N, joka kulki ensin metrona tunnelissa ja sitten kadulla ratikkana. Klo 13 Starbucksissa 6 $ rinkeli ja kahvi. Kävelin puistossa noin tunnin, siitä 15 minuuttia ilman paitaa, jotta selän aurinkorasvaton alue olisi saanut vähän d-vitamiinia. Puistosta jatkoon bussilla 28 sillalle. Jatkoin kaupungin katselua busseilla.... read more

San Francisco, USA 25th January Sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge into San Francisco Bay has got to be on everybody's bucket list. We passed under the bridge at midday on a warmish, sunlit Californian day, and docked at a new Pier (27) which was a few hundred yards further out than we had been before. With the iconic Alcatraz island on our port side and the steep streets of the city on the other, it made for a special trip to the berth. San Francisco sits on a hilly peninsula bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the Bay,with the waters meeting at the Golden Strait beneath the Golden Gate Bridge. These swirling waters in and around Alcatraz Island shows why there were no recognised escapes from the prison. From our previous walkabout here, long trousers ... read more

Crazy Town (aka San Francisco) Thursday Arrived in SF around 4ish and slowly found our way to the Nob Hill Motor Inn (http://nobhillmotorinn.com/) . Interesting hotel located near Polk St which is a strip that contains numerous eateries, bars and convenience stores. The hotel itself was clean but could do with new carpets etc. Location was excellent as the bus to Fisherman’s wharf was around the corner and a bus that goes direct to AT&T Park went past the front door. So car stayed neatly tucked away in the hotel whilst we rode the Muni (Local Bus service). Went searching for the evening meal, with such a range to choose we picked a little place called Street (http://streetrestaurant.com/) and was pleasantly surprised with good food, wine and a Fig martini which took Gaynor’s fancy. Friday Star ... read more

Terry and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary in February by taking a cruise along the Mexican coastline from Los Angeles. Although we had never cruised (and thought we would not enjoy it), here we were on the West Coast so jumped on a special deal. And we were very happy we did. The accommodations, entertainment and of course the FOOD were first class. We were pampered and were getting used to it. We sailed around Cabo San Lucas on an excursion boat looking for George Clooney who lives there in the mountains. I thought for sure he knew we were coming and would have flown a flag of welcome. But no. Our motor home stayed in San Diego at a park with good security while we were gone. So no worries there. We enjoyed watching ... read more

I'll take the middle one! followed by - H-aye! You owe me some pussy. then - Damn! You're fucking Hot! Got to love the homeless. Started the day on a high with some free breakfast! woop! Bagels and shitty oatmeal (I'd rather eat my face) Jana still running on about 2 hours sleep. We grabbed our cameras and headed for the bestest place in the world - the Zoo!!! We walked to the muni and when we realised the Bart and the Muni are 2 different things we caught the right train straight to the coast. Beautiful zoo. We ate ourselves some hotdogs, took a few photos, hung with the blind seals, Jana drooled over her Gorillas and then we headed home. We walked around the city, visited the San Fran Westfield and ate some Korean. ... read more

Another amazing day in San Francisco. We woke this morning to the sound of rain. The infamous San Francisco fog had rolled in and bought misty showers with it. After a late night last night and our first real hiccup with our travel plans sleep was short. When we got back from our late night last night I got today's program out and read that you needed to book a ferry and bus transfer once you got your ticket on the Wine Train confirmation. Of all things to not do, we had first class tickets on the wine train and no way of getting there as their reservations had closed. After a bit of research I found Budget have an office in downtown San Francisco so I hopped on line booked us an intermediate sized car ... read more

We have just arrived home at 10:30pm after an extended day of sightseeing in the San Francisco and Sausalito region. After breakfast at the guest house, and meeting our other residents Gordon and Claudia we caught the "munis" to Fishermans Wharf at San Francisco. After getting off at the wrong stop, about three stops early today as yesterday we were about three stops late, we ended up at Hyde Street Pier. Hyde Street Pier is still a working pier with a number of boat builders/repairers there as well as a number of older boats that are now tourist attractions. After a look around Hyde Street Pier we headed off to Sausalito by bay ferry. The ferry ride over was very comfortable and despite a history of sea sickness I felt fine. We enjoyed clam chowder for ... read more
