It is Thursday morning and I have just over 24 hours before I leave for my trip to Thailand and Bali. I know what to pack, but the one thing that I can't decide on is how big my travel pack should be. Do I want to keep it small and carry my pack onto the plane, or go large and check the bag? Hmmmm. As for packing, I am going to bring mostly tank tops, T-shirts, shorts, and sundresses. I am bringing flipflops and hiking shoes, bugspray, bathingsuits, music, books, dive certification card, camera, sunscreen, and some other stuff that I can't think of right now. I am about to leave the comfort and safety of my beach pad in San Diego and trade it for backpacker type hostels and cheap accomodations in a third ... read more

The journey started quite a while ago when some friends of mine got an idea to go around the world. I thought it was a great idea so I started saving. Their trip has since come and gone, but in a few weeks we will start out on our grand adventure. With all the excitement waiting for us, I thought I'd take a look back at this past year and the sacrifices we have made to make this happen. At 25 years old, most of my friends are going to office happy hours, clubbing on the weekends, attending great concerts, taking weekend trips, buying new cars, going out to dinner, living in a nice apartment, etc, etc, etc. Although my life is similar in the fact that I wake up and go to work to make ... read more

Goodbye San Diego

Hello greetings from San Diego in So Cal. So Let me see on Friday i had great plans i got up went for breakfast at this place called Dotties which was recommended by Mark Mazza. He warned me that i would have to queue up to get a seat. Which is weird you just dont get that at The Koffee Pot. So when i got there, there was about 10 people waiting and i was like i have no where to go Im gonna wait. It was all local people waiting in line and they were pretty much all my age. I got a seat at the bar which was cool because i got to see the chef in action. This guy was a machine so organized it was crazy. I had bacon, scrambled eggs, fried ... read more

Righto then, lets finish this thing and get on home! When I first had the idea of writing a blog, I didn't really think it through at all. All I was going to do was write a few words, add a couple of pics and there you have it. How hard can it be? Mmmm, well... I'm going to cover this topic further in the wrap up, end of trip review, so I'll leave it for now and get back to the across America train trip I promised all a yous in the last entry. A 50 hour train trip across 3 time zones no less. You just don't realise how big a country the USA is until you spend an entire day travelling through cornfields, occaisionally broken up by little towns, flags waving with patriotic ... read more

Italy or BUST! Well it's 3:45 AM and I have been up all night packing for my trip and packing up my belongings in my apartment. Coffee has been a constant companion the last couple of weeks since I decided to put my notice in at work and pack up. I can't believe that I'm actually ready to embark on my journey. Andrew, my travel buddy is on his way to my house to pick me up so we can drive up to LAX for our 8:15 AM flight to Philadelphia and then to Venice. It still doesn't feel real that my intense and inexplicable draw to Italy finally pulled hard enough on my soul to actually take me there. I feel thrilled and thankful and very blessed. Everyone has been so helpful and proud of ... read more

A little writing from the trip.... Keep in mind that these are all early drafts and need some more editing : ) Two Worlds the richness, the texture the color of your skin the melody of your voice, rumbling with pronunciation of words I do not understand, entrances me, leads me to another dimension where we can speak with mutual admiration of the differences that separate us the things which draw us at once apart and together and finally it is only silence we share and a smile that tells us both that all is the same in the end, into the earth into the sky, into the reunion which awaits us all in memory there are only three now, but the questions of why have not yet formed the pain of vacancy still fills all ... read more
