We flew into Los Angeles and it was raining heavily. We were quite unlucky because it hardly ever rains in California! We did a tour of Hollywood and Beverly Hills where all the movie stars live. The houses were nice but we think we are very lucky to live in the Cotswolds. We went shopping on Rodeo Drive where a shirt costs $700 and dad wanted a watch but mum said no because it was $20,000!... read more

How y'all goin,Last day of our hol we're leaving LA at 9-20 to-night its now 11-00 am. we're just going to walk down to Santa Monica pier which is only a few minutes walk. Every morning it's been very misty for the first few hours but cleared up later each day. Yesterday we got the bus to downtown LA which took about an hour but only cost $1 cos we're seniors/we visited LA cathedral which was brilliant. we had a guided tour by a volunteer guide who knew everything there was to know about the cathedral. The day before we went(how shallow is this) to Beverley Hills and Hollywood and had a bus tour with a great Beatles fan doing the commentary We couldn't get near the Chinese theatre cos they were preparing for a film ... read more

Hi, this is harry and Thomas, blogging for the last time. For 2 of the past 3 days we have been staying in disneyland. It was AWESOME. All of us loved it. We went on almost all the rides and out of them our favourites were California Screamin', Twilight Zone:tower of terror, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (which is especially good after dark), Soarin' Over California, Indiana Jones Adventure, Pirates of the Caribbean and a 'Death Ascent' thing on paridise pier (sorry we've forgotten the name of it). It was especially awesome beacause there were no Queues. After that we came to Santa Monica Where we are staying in a posh hotel called the Fairmont. Harry and Thomas, out for the last time.... read more

July 18, 2010 WE HAVE ARRIVED. It only took us 17 days (it is supposed to be a 9 day trip) and worth it all the way. We left San Bernadino at around 8:00 am and traveled through Rialto, Fontana, Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, Clairmont, LaVerne, San Dimos, Glendora, Azusa, Irwindale, Durate, Monrovia and finally into Pasadina, Los Angles and to the Santa Monica Pier. We arrived at the pier at around 1:30 and left at around 6:30 pm. We took our picture at every place that said we were at the end of the Mother Road. When we were in Winslow, AZ the gal at the store we were in told us to find Dan in a Kiosk on the Pier and tell him the girls from Wonslow said to say "Hello". We found him, and ... read more

Jimin was at work and we woke up late. We got dressed and hit the town. We turned left onto Santa Monica Blvd and just started driving. We passed through Beverly Hills and blasted WEEZER! The stores were incredible-we passed a store completely dedicated to caviar! We continued driving toward the ocean. The traffic got thicker the closer we got so we pulled off at the public library. We paid the meter and went for a walk. We stopped at the Goodwill, where Zack picked up 2 T-shirts for $4. This was the craziest goodwill ever. All the clothes were Lucky Brank, Ed Hardy, and American Apparel. Haha-I guess we aren’t in Nashville anymore. We continued walking passed a lot more ritzy shops and finally saw the ocean. We made it to the Pacific! The Santa ... read more

Fri 2nd July After walking with a massive handover this morning and being sick we had to get up to find our way to the airport and start travelling to get to our next destination - LA. All day travelling, we finally get to H.I Los Angeles- it's AMAZING! It's almost like a hotel - free hair dryers, free iron, free towels, movie room, free tea and coffee 24/7 laundry room and the list goes on!! We decided to take a shower to freshen up after having our $4 BBQ as at this point it was 8.30pm. LA is 8 hours behind the UK and we had only just got used to the 5 hour time difference from NY. We met a great guy called Jeff at LA Gardia airport who lives in LA. He gaves ... read more

Marika was sad to say good bye to Vegas and all the shopping opportunities, but onwards we go to Los Angeles and Santa Monica. We arrived at LAX and got a taxi to Santa Monica which took about 30 minutes. We checked in, got settled, and hit the shops and searched for coffee as usual. 3rd Street Promenade was one street behind out hotel and was about 4 blocks that was closed to traffic. Lots of shops, some buskers, seats and lots of good old fashion people watching opportunities. We were very relived to find a lot of places that made espresso coffee, not just the Americano boiled crap they like. After a few hours wandering along the Promenade we walked along the cost road over looking Santa Monica beach and pier. It was very overcast ... read more

The final frontier is upon us as we land down in Los Angeles ready for the short journey to Santa Monica, a trendy beach city nearby. From Santa Monica we decided to do a couple of activities, the first being a tour round Hollywood, included a look at some very nice houses owned by celebrities. Personally i felt this was a bit invasive, however I don't have that much sympathy for them when you see the life they have to live. The highlight of the tour for our driver seemed to be pointing out the ambulance that Michael Jackson was taken to hospital in... everyone in Hollywood does seem very strange and obsessed with everything to do with celebrities! The other stops on the tour included the designer Rodeo Drive (from Pretty Woman), Hollywood Boulevard, and ... read more
