What Up. Southern Cali, a little bit of everything. If you don't know, the weather stays the same year round. Cloudy cool mornings followed by sunny tropical afternoons. Beach after beach after beach. Even without the sun its always time for a little ocean dip. The day started with a short ride up the coastline from beautiful "Dego" to smoggy LA. In between we took a very romantic stroll along the beach, holding hands and watching waves. Then came the traffic and smog of cluttered LA. The next highlight was the infamous Roscoes Chicken & Waffles, great fried chicken and almost great waffles. As a counterbalance we soon after took a hike up the Hollywood hills gazing at the hillside mansions of the well to do. Once there we admired the scenary and took many pictures ... read more

Hey all, I'm kicking this back up while I head off to Eastern Europe. First stop though is DC to hang out with family and to grab my cousin, Malia to travel with me and my long-time travel buddy, Betty. I'll be bringing my iPad so we'll see how that all works out using that to update my blog. Looking forward to this adventure as I head to Prague, Vienna, Salzburg and finally Budapest. It won't be as long as my last trip but nonetheless having time to explore some new cities is always a fun time. Woohoo and aloha! Leilani ... read more

Geo: 34.0481, -118.526Naomi and I visited the Getty Villa. The Getty Villa is one of two locations of the J. Paul Getty Museum. The Getty Villa is an educational center and museum dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria. The collection has 44,000 Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities dating from 6,500 BC to 400 AD. It was a wonderful place to visit. Lots of Greek and Roman artwork and statues. After spending 3 hours there, we headed back to my home for an early night before heading back to Comic Con tomorrow.... read more

Last Day in the Palisades So, phase one, and baby one was a fabulous intro to the road trip. And I should warn the Lottermoser’s, Button’s and Bloomfield’s that your baby has a lot to live up to. Turner James Algra was polite, courteous and quite the surf dude - not to mention as adorable as a day old bunny rabbit. And in case that doesn’t put the pressure on, remarkably he seemed to develop some kind of kinship with his foreign guest. Maybe it was our shared hairstyles, or the bulbous round faces that hang off us both, or maybe even the chunky legs that look like they need a little work with a rolling pin. Regardless, Turner was my buddy and we both knew it. So, parents of babies 2, 3 and 4 be ... read more

Day One Fact: There are more Toyota Prius' here than poodles with wack hair cuts, or celebrities with boob jobs. Fact: Everyone who owns a Prius returns home at night to park their 6.2 litre Hummer next to their Hybrid Prius, resolute in the knowledge that they're doing their bit for the environment. The world's a better place for the LA rich and famous. I guess its the sentiment that counts though right? Actually, I hope so, since my "4 babies and a wedding tour" will kick off at each venue with the passing of baby gifts that my sister bought for me at a last minute trip to the factory outlet village. Thanks Sue - fancy you getting the presents - there's a first time for everything eh. Shenanigans at Immigration & at US Air ... read more

Hey, Calone here... So, less than two weeks now before the big trip. I did my first real hike w/ a 25lb pack over the weekend. I nearly died, Dax barely broke a sweat. We hiked @ Temescal Canyon in the Pacific Palisades (just north of Santa Monica) and although the hike got a little difficult for me, I was determined to reach the "waterfall" which turned out to be no more than (what looked like) a leaky faucet. With that and the fact that they don't allow dogs past a certain point, I doubt its a hike that I'll do again. It served its purpose as a reality check (for me) and a test that my North Face boots really are water proof :) The highlight - The little Arts & Nature school that ... read more
