Just two lovebirds celebrating each other!

Save the best for last. Icing on the cake. The National Anthem can now play on the TV. We both agreed that this was the most magnificent way we could have put an end to our trip. To everyone: Try somehow, someway to see this natural work of art before you can't. It is almost unbelievable to see. Here you come 60 miles north of the major highway Interstate 40, the temperature drops a few degrees, pass by Grand Canyon Lodging, pay the national park entrance fee, park in a lot, and walk up a trail and Voila! there lies one of the many natural wonders of the world. Now, the Golden Gate Bridge and Hoover Dam can be found on someone's list of wonders(there are many..I googled), but they are under the manmade division. This ... read more

The temperature was so scorching on this leg! You will see pictures where our car read 119 degrees and we all know that the car only reads 2-3 degrees hotter than it is. I couldn't believe we were even passing through towns with gas stations and trailers in this heat. Who lives out here! We arrived in Las Vegas around 3:00pm (PDT) and it was a whopping 113 degrees outside. We thought our skin would melt. It was horrible. We found the nearest DQ for some ice cream and then called ourselves waiting in the room a few minutes so it could 'cool' off. Dumb thought, right? Well, it was very much NOT cooler in a few minutes. However, we still went to the Hoover Dam and I nearly died. The heat was absolutely unbearable. Oddly, ... read more

Bittersweet it was to be leaving our 5-star bed and breakfast to hit the road again. Getting ready this morning was like starting a new trip. We cleaned out the car, restocked the snacks, and resorted our clothes. We began our 4 hour long trek to Oakhurst, CA which sits at the south entrance of Yosemite National Park. Of course, the beginning is your traditional city highway, and then comes the two lane road and 'watch for deer' signs. We arrived to Oakhurst at about 2:00pm and it was hot. 'Do we go now? Do we go later?' we thought to ourselves. After leaving '85-in-the-day-and-55-in-the-night' San Francisco, the heat was a rude awakening. We ate a quick lunch and headed to the south gate. Our destination was the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. What a treat! ... read more

Part of the glamour of the road trip is going to new places, seeing things you have never seen before, but that's only half. The other half, which is the best half, is seeing new places with your number one road dog. My beloved is a great road warrior to have in the driver's seat...especially when he's taking us to Napa Valley. We went to Napa today and oh what a great time we had. If only we lived close and didn't have another place to go, we could have stayed for hours. We passed fields of vineyards and wineries and landed at Sattui Winery. This was a recommendation from our Aunt Ann and well, we can trust her word any day. We walked inside as novice and left tipsy. We went to the tasting room ... read more

Yes, today was an awesome day too. First, I want to say thank you for keeping up with us all week long. We have had a fabulous time on our trip and it is our pleasure to recreate our excursions for your virtual realities. WARNING: The trip will end and our regular life will resume. Please begin to prepare for the end of your vicarious living. First thing was first: a top notch breakfast made by our host, Ann. That was great way to begin our day. Then we headed to Concord, CA to visit our friends Tiffany and Will. IRONY: We met these two lovebirds in our pre-marital counseling course at Concord Church and Will just transfered out here for his blessed new job on July 5th. We had dinner went them the Friday before ... read more

Breakfast on the pier. If that was all it would be enough. Fortunately that is where our day started. We woke up in picturesque Monterey where we strolled to the fisherman's wharf. The day itself was picture perfect, the temperature was 68 with not a single cloud in sight. The beach had just enough people to make it look interesting without it being crowded. We saw otters seemingly sun tanning on the buoys in the harbor and the seagulls watching us watching them. We then had a wonderful breakfast at Lou Lou's Griddle in the Middle. From Monterey we drove to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk where we found it to be everything you see in a magazine, brochure, or movie. We started by walking past rollercoasters filled with screaming people, a small casino with occupied senior ... read more

Bay after bay, cliff after cliff. From the bottom to the top. How many million dollar views can you see in a day? After leaving Motel 6, our trek took us through central California. Here we found many tourist cities with beach houses, mansions, and grand ranches. Here, there were all surfers and no swimmers. The weather was cool and sunny just like it should be. Travelling Hwy 1 took us first through mountains, hills, and cattle ranches. Coming from Texas I never thought hills filled with nothing but grass and cows could look so good. It made me fantasize about being the Marlboro man. But what ranch would be complete without a farm, and when I say farm I mean miles and miles of farmland. Fields of celery, lettuce, broccoli, strawberries, and any other produce ... read more

What Up. Southern Cali, a little bit of everything. If you don't know, the weather stays the same year round. Cloudy cool mornings followed by sunny tropical afternoons. Beach after beach after beach. Even without the sun its always time for a little ocean dip. The day started with a short ride up the coastline from beautiful "Dego" to smoggy LA. In between we took a very romantic stroll along the beach, holding hands and watching waves. Then came the traffic and smog of cluttered LA. The next highlight was the infamous Roscoes Chicken & Waffles, great fried chicken and almost great waffles. As a counterbalance we soon after took a hike up the Hollywood hills gazing at the hillside mansions of the well to do. Once there we admired the scenary and took many pictures ... read more

Great day yet again on the San Diego Bay!! Today, after the harbor cruise and some sitdown, we went riding and enjoying the sights. We also went to see some of Danny's aunts, Aunt Faye and Aunt Ruth. They remind me of two other sisters I know. We rode over to Coronado Island to see how the other half live and they live well. We went out to Sunset Cliffs and that was beautiful to see. I felt like I was on a show of House Hunters Vacation Homes yes that is a real show) without the cameras, realtor, or money to buy a vacation home. I have some pics of ones I might choose. Danny, my adventerous husband, was standing so close to the cliff and I was like please come back. I told him ... read more

As you can see, we are having an awesome time! The views, scenery, and sights are fantastic! We don't know where we can go from here...well maybe to San Francisco, Napa, Yosemite, Vegas again... They were already in the route map. We have only had a dozen conversations about our life travels on the road with our kids, family and friends. We may have to do a Winnebago caravan with all of our loved ones. Wouldn't that be fun! So we left Vegas Tuesday morning around 9:00am on our 9 hour trek to the West Coast. We saw mountains, desert, cactus, more highway curves, and beautiful, luscious trees. It's weird seeing palm trees in the mountains. Total irony to me. We arrived in San Diego and again discovered that watching Priceline everyday for weeks, once again, ... read more
