Its a mere hours before I leave for the Airport and I still have much to do. I Havent finished packing, nor have I exchanged any currency or gone through my list of things to accomplish before I leave. I am not worried however because I feel pretty good about things and I know I should be able to take of everything when the time is needed. One thing of note, in an effort to maximize my travel luggage as much as possible I opted instead of brining a full size towel to use in the shower or at the beach, to roll the dice and buy some microfiber car washing towels. They are tiny but super absorbant and will be interesting to see whether or not they actually pay off. For some perspective there are ... read more

So exciting!!! So, for those who don't know, there are 5 of us going on this trip: myself, Christi, Francesca, Kimberly "Bing," and Michael. We're travelling to: Singapore, Jakarta, Bali & Brisbane. Francesca, Bing and Michael have homes in Singapore and Jakarta so we will be staying with them. We're renting a villa in Bali, then Christi and I will be off to Brisbane! It seems like just yesterday we were all joking about Christi and I coming to visit this summer. It seemed like one second it was a dream and the next I had a plane ticket and it was a reality! Lots to do before we leave though -- lots and lots of shopping, in particular (clothes, toiletries, luggage, etc.). Thanks for following me! Next post will be coming next Wednesday, DEPARTURE DAY! ... read more

We got up bright and early and tried to enjoy our hostel, the brothel in the bronx, or Inglewood, the dodge city next to Compton in LA! The place was crawling with hookers and weird people but you just had to laugh! There was free everything, from breakfast, to popcorn, cookies and dinner! Luckily there was a swimming pool so we chilled around there for the day, catch up on books and enjoy the sun again! ... read more

Sunday - back home. To make our transition back to American life, Ron and I walked down to McDonald’s and had breakfast before heading to the airport. “Bacon” is Canadian Bacon, which is what Ron ordered. I ordered a sausage & egg English muffin. I don’t know what kind of sausage it was, but it wasn’t pork. Ron joked and said it was camel and I lost my appetite. The 13 hour flight to LA seemed a lot longer than the trip over and the LA Airport wasn’t exactly the welcome to America we were looking for. Ron had sigh of relief once we touched down at DFW. As much fun as we had, the Texas accents were refreshing to hear in Dallas. To have been on 8 planes in 8 days, we were lucky that ... read more

Hello, Don't know howmuch time I've got on this computer just wanted to get the site started. Locked into a tiny terminal for two hours, have discovered that it's much easier getting to into LA than out. Half an hour tops through incomig customs. Off to Cost Rica en route to Caracas, something of worth to report after that! Thanks for looking. XX Chris... read more

This past weekend, I flew to Portland to spend time with my two team mates from Tanzania and to watch one of them get married. It was my first real wedding (I went to my cousin's at the age of 12 but don't remember much) and it was great to see such strong Christians pronounce their unity to the world and make a covenant with God. Since coming back from Tanzania, I have been praying over missions and wondering where God will take me. He continually guides my heart back to here, now, this time and reminds me that today is today and tomorrow will come...tomorrow. God has taken me into a time of solitude where I have signed up to audit a class on Leviticus. I love Leviticus and the amazing detail that God created ... read more

Nov 1, 2008 was the final day of deployment orientation. Around noon we were all ferried off to Denver International Airport and boarded on a United Airlines flight to Los Angeles. After a cramped 2 hour flight we arrived at LAX and spent several hours milling about the Qantas terminal waiting for our 747 to depart for Auckland, NZ. I was hungry and admit rather shamefully I spent a chunk of my meager travel money on an $8 Big Mac. Also, unlike most decent airports in this country, LAX failed to provide free wireless internet access. So, I called the wife on the temporary cell phone I’d purchased just before the trip and used up the last 10 minutes I had remaining on the prepaid card. I boarded the 747 without issue and took up ... read more

Our bright idea to save money was to stay the night in Honolulu airport and catch our early flight to LAX. However, when we arrived at the airport just after midnight, not only was it not a 24 hour airport, but most of it was open air. Unfazed by the situation, Dale and Ollie nodded straight off (laying on concrete); I think Mark had a bit more trouble. After a healthy breakfast courtesy of Burger King, we boarded our early morning plane to LAX. I was assured by Mark and Ollie that Naveen Andrews ('Saheed' from Lost) was also on our flight, but quite drousy from lack of sleep, I couldn't say I cared too much at the time. Next stop...
