Geo: 36.7402, -119.786Today we visited Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. The day was supposed to be another scorcher, which I found difficult to believe, since we were going to be in an immense forest. And fortunately, I was right. We enjoyed a pleasant 70-72 degrees all day long, while it was 99 degrees on the outside of the parks. We left the hotel at 7:45 and began the one hour drive through miles of orange groves and olive groves and vineyards.Lake Kaweah filled the valley that was crowned by yellow hillsides peppered with dark green trees and mountains rising in the distance, in the early morning haze. What a glorious day in the giant valley. We drove for three hours up into the mountains with thick snow beside the roads to the National Park of Yosemite. the $20 entrance fee was well worth it to see the huge waterfalls, sheer granite mountains and ancient trees. This place must rank as one of the most stunning landscapes on earth. We took loads of photos and will upload some soon. We decided today that we would pick the best photo from each of the kids and they would get a $1 each - given the fact that no one can really take a bad picture of Yosemite!!!... read more

Boxing day, 2009. What's going on young world? Randall Here again. My last travel blog failed so I would like to keep everyone up to date with this new one. I'm here in Fresno now packed and ready to head back down to Newport tomorrow and meet up with Deep, Harry, and Yuvi to catch our shuttle to LAX. Just had a great Christmas couldn't ask for a better one, I'm truly blessed with the cards I've been dealt in this game of life. We have been in super sunny California for just over two weeks now. Andy boy is it HOT! It's been over a 100 degrees since we arrived. Our first outing was to Clovis water slide park which was good fun with the family as my Aunt Janie and cousin Anabel were also visiting from Texas. Mostly we have spent time indoors during the hottest part of the day , keeping hydrated and enjoying lots of laughs with the family. Sean tells me the rain is heavy in England so I guess Sunny days are better than the British weather. This past weekend we went up to the Sierra national forest to spend the day in Huntington Lake -though the outing itself was a lot of fun. Avalon was car sick on the way up and down ... read more
