So, you guys probably weren't expecting to here from me via travelblog again, but I have good news. As of this morning I am accepted as an International Student at the University of York in England. There are some problems that need to be fixed before I can once again study abroad (namely amassing the necessary funds and making sure they know when i'm suppose to show up---they were so confused by how I turned in my application 6 months before the deadline that they expect me to fly over for the upcoming spring terms instead of for next year as I put on my application). But these things should sort themselves out. Well, there probably won't be any reason for me to update this thing again until next September, but I thought I'd give you ... read more

Well, I thought that before I start on the journey and talk about where I am going, I would list where I have been. Here is where I have been within the United States. Not everywhere, but more than I actually thought once I actually looked at the map. Wow. I cannot wait to finish the U.S. off as well as going to other continents as well. Visited US States Map ... read more

Well, I just started this blog, and actually didn't plan to enter anything here until I started the travel, but then realized that it has already begun. I have gotten the passport, the visas, the flights, and finally this week put the downpayment on the apartment in Italy. So at this point it is just a matter of packing and waiting. As well I want to travel as much of United States as I can, since I feel kinda guilty that I reside here and yet the exchange students who are here at the University have seen more of this place than I have. I have seen alot, but hope before I leave to again visit TN and New Mexico as well. So. This is the begining. Wow. I kinda never thought this would be ... read more

This is a map of the countries I've visited pre-Study Abroad. I want to have this to compare to one after I've completed this semester. There's so much of the world I want to see and so much to be seen! Visited Countries Map ... read more

So today it is officially 8 days until my Study Abroad begins. I am so nervous! But also really excited. The new airline regulations have me all in a tizzy, but I'm just glad that I do not have to fly through London. I will fly from here to Newark, and then to Rome! :) I am very excited because on the day I land, it will be my birthday and I will have so many fabulous things to celebrate: being in Rome (of course...), beginning my study abroad, and my birthday! Any tips before I leave?... read more

Hey Guys, This is it. I'm am so stinking excited. I couldn't get to sleep last night until after 2 and then woke up at 3:50 thinking it was time to go. I think I woke up 6 times. Today could not have come fast enough. I'm not nervous. I know I'm about to go to a foreign country for 6 weeks, but I'm too excited to be anxious. I have great faith in our team that's going, so I'm not really worried about anything horrendous happening. But who knows what adventures God has planned for us. I expect the everything to be different. From the sights, sounds and smells to the people and food and all that. I think the classes will be great. I am encouraged to hear that lots of our learning for ... read more

So, here I am, eight hours before I leave Arkansas for 2.5 months. Am I nervous? Yes. Am I excited? Yes. Am I packed? Of course not. My flight leaves from Fort Smith tomorrow morning, and I will spend a few final days with my lovely Italian friends in New York City. It'll be a good relaxer before bouncing on to Israel for the summer. Saying goodbye to Francesca and Matteo will be so hard, but I am happy that this is how we are saying it. I will be living in Be'er Sheva, Israel working for the Maslan Rape Crisis Center. Basically, this town is in the middle of the desert, so I will quite literally be surrounded by sand and camels and sun. I'm not quite sure where I will be living yet, hopefully ... read more

I just bought my plane ticket. It was almost $1000 less than the study abroad office told me it would be. Awesome. Still freaking expensive, but the bright side is the best side, no? Tomorrow, as soon as the transfer goes through from savings to checking, I'll be booking my hostel, scuba diving trip, and rainforest trip in the last week in Cairns. People and myself are just starting to realize where I'm going and I'm getting a lot of requests for koalas. Way more strangely, I'm getting a lot of "why are you going there?" in that odd, why not Europe way. Let me answer this in several ways. First and foremost my program studies Aboriginal language, an excellent resume filler for a girl who wants to go to grad school in linguistics, and where ... read more

Well, I haven't left yet...still a little over two weeks to go. Christmas is in five days, and I still can't relax. Trying to prep for Christmas, New Year's, and a 6 month trip to Belgium is a little unnerving, especially when I only have about two weeks to get it all done. In fact, I probably shouldn't be messing with this blog right now. My flight to Brussels leaves on January 5th. I'll have a layover in Atlanta, and arrive in Belgium on the morning of January 6. I've attached some photo's from the place I've called home for the past few years...good old Fayetteville, Arkansas. If you don't know me, I've been working on my Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering at the U of A. My academic career has culminated with an amazing opportunity ... read more
